SUMMARY
We repeat, because of the agreement with the TPL Group, that TPL controls the information that Patriot Scientific can release, and the SEC has ruled that individual license fees are normal business, the financial revenue information for licenses is not available until Patriot Scientific's quarterly results are released. The financial data for the five licenses granted in the quarter ended November 30, 2007, will not be known until mid-January 2008, and the financial data for the court settlement will not be available fully until after the release of results for the quarter ended February 28, 2008. And there still is the issue of the U.S. Patent and Trade Office (USPTO) reexamination of the patents.
We would like to be more aggressive in our Rating and price target, however, the lack of timely release of revenue numbers, the USPTO reexamination, the total number of shares outstanding, and the stock trading on the Bulletin Board causes us to reiterate our Speculative Buy Rating and our $0.75 price per share target for Patriot Scientific.
HUT AB !
Samsung Develops MLC-based 128 Gigabyte, SATA II Solid State Drive
2008 International CES
#N236, North Hall
Booth 11033, Central Hall
LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., the leader in advanced semiconductor technology, announced today that it has developed a multi-level cell (MLC) flash-based 128 Gigabyte (GB) solid state drive (SSD) that it will produce this year in 1.8-inch and 2.5-inch versions for notebook and desktop PCs, as well as other mobile applications. The new drive offers a data writing speed of 70 megabytes per second (MB/s), the industry’s highest for MLC-based SSDs.
Samsung’s 128GB SSD will be demonstrated in a notebook PC at CES 2008 in its Semiconductor Product Showcase, Room N236, at the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC), North Hall, 2nd Floor. The complete suite of Samsung SSDs will also be displayed at Samsung Electronics’ Booth 11033, in the LVCC’s Central Hall. Information regarding this product and other Samsung news at CES is available online at www.samsung.com/us/business/semiconductor/news/News_MediaCenter.html.
The Samsung MLC-based SSD’s write speed of 70MB/s was achieved through the use of optimized controller technology and highly efficient flash-management firmware technology. Adding to its exceptional performance, Samsung’s 128GB SSD reads data at 100MB/s.
“Our SSD can be used by the widest range of corporate notebooks, particularly where additional storage is needed beyond what is typical in most business applications,” said Jim Elliott, director, flash memory marketing, Samsung Semiconductor, Inc.
Samsung’s 128GB SSDs will be available in a thin-standard 1.8-inch version that is five millimeters thick, to spur the design of thinner ultra-mobile PCs, in addition to a conventional 1.8-inch version for mobile consumer applications and a 2.5-inch version for standard-sized notebooks.
Featuring a 3.0 gigabit-per-second SATA II interface, the new 128GB SSD uses native command queuing and spread-spectrum clocking to add to its higher performance levels. It also features device/host-initiated power management for an exceptionally low power consumption level of 0.5W in active mode.
Samsung’s state-of-the-art wear-leveling technology, combined with its advanced flash management technology, provides high reliability for its MLC-based-SSD and a mean time between failures (MTBF) of one million hours.
A pioneer in the development of SSDs, Samsung released a 32GB PATA SSD in March 2006, followed by a 64GB version using the SATA I interface in March 2007 and the first 64GB SATA II SSD in November 2007. Development of Samsung’s 128GB MLC-based SSD is a result of efficiencies enabled by the company’s unique combination of NAND flash memory, firmware and controller technology for flash management.
According to market research firm Web-Feet Research, the SSD market is expected to reach US$570 million in 2007 and increase to US$6.6 billion by 2010 – a compound annual growth rate of over 120 percent.
Samsung expects to begin mass producing its 128GB SSD in the first half of 2008.

SUMMARY
After an initial review of the SEC Form 10Q, we are disappointed by the fact that the equity in earnings of affiliated company line item
was only $5.4 million. Phoenix Digital's top line revenue for the six-month period shows approximate revenue of $21.0 million. However,
operating expenses of $14.0 million reduced the operating income to $7.3 million. We assume the operating expenses of 14.0 million
includes heavy legal expenses associated with the trial in Texas. Further, Patriot Scientific now has an income tax payable liability of
$5.4 million as of November 30, 2007. We recognize the recent nine licenses granted by TPL Group since November 30, 2007, and the settlement (for an unknown amount) of the Microprocessor Patent™ Portfolio legal disputes with two patent infringement lawsuits that were pending in the U.S. District Courts in the Eastern District of California. At this time we are reiterating our Speculative Buy Rating and price target of $0.92, however the rating is subject to change after we review and analyze the 10Q and discuss the results with management. In our soon to be published Update Research Report, we will present in detail our analysis and comments on the results of the period ended November 30, 2007.
It is interesting to note that approximately one year ago Patriot Scientific's common stock was selling at $0.55 and as of January 19, 2007, the date of the SEC Form 10Q for the quarter ended November 30, 2006, the number of outstanding shares was 381,214,818. In the just released SEC Form 10Q for the quarter ended November 30, 2007, the number of outstanding shares was 391,472,101, approximately 10.2 million more today than a year ago.

Geht also nur Teilzeit.

"Don't get me wrong --- I want the settlement to be "huge" too, because I haven't sold a single share. However, I also want people to go into April with their heads on straight and realizing that the risk in this investment has not suddenly disappeared merely because there has been a settlement. Instead, all that has happened is that the risk has been shifted from the uncertainty of a trial to the uncertainty of the settlement amount."
"....I think that TPL granted a NDA by a request from the J3. Publicized settlements can adversely affect the paying companies stock prices. The wording in the announcement also was peculiar:"business resolution." This could possibly represent to other future licensees that they will be treated with respect and not in an antagonistic manner, and thus encouraging them to come to the table with an agreement. As a business person, I like the wording "resolution" better than "settlement." The former represents winners on both sides. It is not confrontational, and that is good business. That does not mean delays should be penalty-free. It means that you respect good business."
