(Übrigens ein gutes Beispiel dafür das die Hypothese: wenn jeder nur an sich denkt ist an alle gedacht, so nicht stimmen kann!)

By Aloysius Laukai

The ABG Speaker SIMON PENTANU has been called on to stop allowing the ABG House for conferences and making it look like a Conference centre or a guest house.
A chief from BUIN told New Dawn FM that the building should be kept for parliamentary proceedings and not for gatherings like the recent public meeting by the women of Bougainville.
The chief PAUL KAMUA said that this building is a CHIEF’S HOUSE and must not be used as party house by non politicians.
He said the women of Bougainville must do a custom for using the Parliament as their meeting house and stop using it in the future.
MR. KAMUA said the women leaders must utilize women centres for their meetings.
New Dawn FM went to the Parliament to get a response from the Speaker who is out of the region, but the clerk promised to make a response once the speaker returns.
Many other Bougainvilleans also supported the comments by PAUL KAMUA.

040917LANDOWNER QUESTIONS MIRIORI
By Aloysius Laukai

A Panguna landowner today questioned who mandated PHILIP MIRIORI to say that because the ABG had no opposition, he was acting as the Opposition to the ABG.
The landowner was responding to a news release by MR MIRIORI against the ABG and its deals with the BCL which is owned by the PNG National Government, the ABG and the landowners themselves.
The former owner, RIO TINTO withdrew and gave shares to the PNG Government and the ABG plus the landowners.
The landowner called on MR. MIRIORI to meet with the ABG leaders instead of creating unnecessary tension by going straight to the media on issues that can be sorted out peacefully as Bougainvilleans.
The landowner said if the Landowners from the PANGUNA are greedy they must be prepared to compensate Bougainvilleans who fell fighting for Panguna.

.........“We have to realise the value of dialogue, transparency and decolonising approaches to development especially in dealing with our people. If the mine is to be reopened, it must be made within a broader economic plan for the region. Conditions for competition and investment have to be developed and regulated in order for our people to reap the benefits and to prevent Bougainville from repeating the same mistakes that led to the loss of many lives.”........

.......“I have no problems with resource extraction. It’s how we do it and make development become sustainable for our communities. There are still many development challenges and it’s been difficult to attract Direct Foreign Investment to grow businesses and the economy to rebuild Bougainville.............

THE Bougainville Copper Limited (BCL) is working to implement its staged redevelopment plan for a new Panguna mining project and further build community support.

“We are actively building positive relationships and will continue to increase our presence in Central Bougainville over the coming months as we expand our community engagement activities,” said Executive Manager Justin Rogers.

Rogers led a BCL community engagement team with Buka-based Bougainville Manager Ephraim Eminoni and two senior project officers where they spent four days at Arawa, Central Bougainville.

The team met local stakeholders earlier this month which coincided with the opening of two major events – the national boxing championships and the 2017 Bougainville Chocolate Festival.

In addressing the opening ceremony, Rogers said;

“It was a chance for us to acknowledge the important parts played by the cocoa industry and the sport of boxing in terms of fostering economic development in Bougainville and the development of people more broadly.”

“Boxing provides opportunities for Bougainvilleans to not only train and compete at the local level, but to shine on the world stage, with no better example than young champion Thaddeus Katoa.”

Rogers said Bougainville’s cocoa industry looked to have a very bright future and had earned international recognition for the quality of its produce.

BCL considered the development of primary industries and other areas of potential, such as tourism, as critical to Bougainville’s future economic success, of which employment was fundamental

NO INDEPENDENCE REFERENDUM FOR BOUGAINVILLE- PM

Bougainville independence referendum 'may not be possible' with key conditions not met,
Papua New Guinea Prime Minister Peter O'Neill has cast doubt on whether an independence referendum will go ahead for the autonomous region of Bougainville because key conditions have not been met.

Part of the peace agreement that ended a decade-long secessionist conflict between Bougainville and Papua New Guinea was the proposal to hold a referendum on independence before 2020.

Bougainville needs to meet certain criteria before the referendum can be held, Mr O'Neill told PNG's Parliament.

"That includes a proper establishment of rule of law, proper establishment of a government structure on Bougainville, proper disposal of weapons — so all those issues are yet to be met, Mr Speaker, as we speak today," he said.

"I don't want Papua New Guineans and Bougainvilleans to think that it's an easy path, that we'll just wake up tomorrow and have a referendum.

Mr O'Neill told MPs the PNG Government would help Bougainville resolve the problems, but did not give details.

"We need to work between now and then to work harder in making sure that we attend to the issues that are clearly defined and stated in the peace agreement," he said.

"I want to assure the [Autonomous Bougainville Government] and the people of Bougainville that we are there to work with them in resolving these issues."

In January, the PNG and Bougainville governments set up a commission to prepare for the referendum, but did not give it any funding at the time.

The Bougainville Government wants to restart a controversial copper mine, blamed for triggering the conflict to provide revenue for an independent state, but faces some local opposition.

The president of Bougainville, John Momis, is furious at claims by the Papua New Guinea prime minister that there is no guarantee the independence referendum will go ahead.

Der Druck der hier aufgebaut wird ist sicherlich nötig für den weiteren Entwicklungsprozess. :-)
