Sub-Sahara die Gelegenheit
jetzt schon wissen, ich wäre entsetzlich, ungenießbar,fürchterlich langweilig,
schrecklich.....nur so am Rande. :(
Nevsun says Eritrea has signed mining agreement for Bisha
The Canadian Press
December 12, 2007 at 11:25 AM EST
Nevsun Resources Ltd. [NSU-T]appears to have cleared the final obstacle to developing the Bisha mine in Eritrea, said to be one of the largest unexploited gold and base-metal deposits in Africa.
Nevsun said Wednesday its Eritrean venture, Bisha Share Mining Co., has concluded a mining agreement with the government which “contains all of the normal provisions governing the future development and operations for the Bisha project, including all substantive requirements of international financial institutions.”
The government has told the company a mine licence “will be issued soon.”
Nevsun shares gained 9.6 per cent Wednesday morning, rising 19 cents to $2.17 on the TSX, up from a low of 80 cents in August but down from $9 in late 2003 before Eritrea blocked work by Nevsun and other international companies while the government conducted a broad review of resource extraction policy.
Nevsun Resources
Nevsun was allowed to resume exploration in 2005, while the government continued holding off on permits.
In October the government took a 30 per cent interest in Bisha Share Mining Co., adding to a 10 per cent stake mandated by its mining law, while Nevsun completed a $15-million equity issue to fund work on the mine.
Nevsun's statement Wednesday quoted a government minister, Tesfai Ghebreselassie, as saying Bisha “has a special significance both for its economic benefits and trend-setting effects on the path of the industry we are very eager to develop in Eritrea.”
Nevsun estimates the “world-class” open-pit operation has proven and probable reserves of four million tonnes of ore with 7.99 grams per tonne of gold and 32.85 grams per tonne silver in a 35-metre-thick surface zone, underlain by a 30-metre-thick zone estimated to contain 6.4 million tonnes containing 4.4 per cent copper and further gold and silver, and a deeper deposit showing 7.2 per cent zinc.
Nevsun's feasibility study, released late last year, envisages mining and processing of each zone in succession.
Sub-Sahara Resources (ASX: SBS) provides the market with an end of year update on
the exploration activities in Eritrea and Tanzania, east Africa.
Eritrea
Sub Sahara has earned a 69% equity in the Zara gold Joint Venture which covers an area of 196km2 and
is situated in northern Eritrea, approximately 160km northwest of the capital city of Asmara. As operator
of the project, Sub Sahara has completed over 11,000metres of diamond drilling at the Koka target, with
very encouraging results the most recent being reported to market on 28 November 2007.
In May 2007, the Company announced an Inferred resource at the Koka Gold deposit of 760,000 ozs gold
from 7million tonnes of ore, grading 3.4g/t gold, and the recently completed drilling has extended the
known mineralization to the south by a further 75 metres
In addition, the initial metallurgical test work indicated a +95% recovery of gold after 24 hours
gravity/cyanidation with manageable minor acid mine drainage. Petrographic studies also confirmed the
uncomplicated nature of the ore.
Drilling activity has been put on hold until the end of January so as to allow a timely review of the work
completed to date. Efforts to complete the updated Koka resource estimate up-grade have also been
delayed and the Company now expects to complete the process by the end of February 2008.
The recently announced granting of the first Mining Lease in Eritrea to Canadian listed Nevsun Resources
is considered a very strong endorsement of the industry and this should lead to a streamlined approach
for other potential miners in the country.
Tanzania
Sub Sahara continues to pursue exploration opportunities with the Mwamazengo Prospect (Mabale Hills
Project) in Tanzania Africa, which forms part of the Lake Victoria Joint Venture with Canadian-listed Currie
Rose Resources Inc (TSX-V: CUI) returning significant results during the year.
Drilling of the original targets identified has been completed and all assay results have been returned, with
a number of new significant coincident geochemical and geophysical anomalies generated during the
years activities.
Sub Sahara?s 49% interest in the Nyanzaga Project with Barrick East Africa Limited which holds
approximately 4.5 million ounces. The Company has spent a total of US$13.3 million on the project which
continues to return good results. Drilling activities are currently in intermission and will recommence in
early January 2008.
Frohe Feiertage an alle Mitleidenden !

schöne Grüße an alle

Kommentar von CEO Griffiths:
"The strong results received to-date from our exploration drilling of the Zara project
coupled with the news late last year that the Eritrean government approved its first
mining application, are all tangible signs that point to Eritrea becoming a gold producer
in the near future.
We are therefore very confident this project will eventually achieve the board’s long term objective of reaching production."

Schönes Wochenende an alle, k.
