Boca Juniors and River Plate continue to be the meccas for companies seeking to position themselves in football. Being the clubs with the most fans and with the greatest interaction on social networks, the possibility of connecting with them is a wish of many but a reality of few.
The new brand that joins the xeneizes and the millionaires as their official sponsor is Cabify. The travel platform continues to position itself in Argentine football and after its passage in the Super League, it now focuses on Boca and River.
To make this sponsorship official, Cabify opted for the slogan “the street breathes football” and the hashtag “# PasiónDeMultitudes”. It should be noted that the platform is the only one legally authorized for use in the country.

Virtual Banks to Heat Up Retail Competition Fitch Ratings expects at least one of the three virtual banks granted licences in July 2019 to begin operations in Taiwan very shortly. The three are Rakuten International Commercial Bank (RICB, A(twn)/Negative), Line Bank Taiwan and Next Bank. RICB obtained its business licence on 8 December 2020. The government says it has no plan to grant additional virtual bank licences for now and Fitch expects the virtual banks and incumbent banks to try to expand digital-banking penetration in Taiwan by improving their fintech capabilities. While the entry of virtual banks in Taiwan is aimed at stimulating innovation, promoting financial inclusion, and keeping pace with rising customer demand for digital platforms, they will intensify competition in the banking sector, which is already highly competitive and fragmented. We expect the virtual banks to offer more attractive loan pricing and deposit rates than incumbents to gain market share..

Use Your Spare Change to Invest
Carrie SmithDecember 1, 2020
For many of us, investing can seem overly complicated and somewhat intimidating if you don’t know the ins and outs. Acorns intend to simplify and demystify this process through a revolutionary mobile app. The Acorns app was created to remove any mental roadblocks or anxiety about becoming a regular investor. Using Modern Portfolio Theory, it recommends optimized portfolios and keeps them on track with automatic rebalancing and dividend reinvestment.
What is Acorns?
Acorns is an all-in-one financial wellness investing app that makes it easy to save and invest. But while microsavings is still their main driver, Acorns does more than just invest your spare change. You can invest for retirement, set up a checking account, and set up a custodial investment account for your children, among many other services.
While Acorns started as an app, it's also available as a web-based version for desktop and portable users.
How Does Acorns Work?
By linking your credit card and checking account, Acorns reads your spending habits on your credit card and rounds each transaction up to the nearest whole number. It pulls the difference from your checking account and invests it in an Acorns account that you set up.
Acorns is a great starting point for anyone who hasn’t invested yet or needs a bit of guidance in the beginning, and you can actually make money using it for investing.

SoftBank to match NTT Docomo’s JPY 2,980 smartphone plan as price war escalates
23-Dec-2020 Intellasia | JapanTimes | 6:02 AM
A price war between major smartphone carriers is escalating, with SoftBank Corp. unveiling new plans Tuesday that put it toe-to-toe with rival NTT Docomo Inc. and the firm’s planned price cut.
Responding to the bombshell announcement by NTT Docomo earlier this month stating that it plans to launch a JPY 2,980 a month 20GB plan from March, SoftBank said it will also introduce a 20GB data monthly plan for the same price.
Rakuten already provides a JPY 2,980 plan with unlimited 4G and 5G data use, but the carrier may now have to spice up its strategy to differentiate itself from larger rivals.

„Standardized COTS hardware and applications deployed in the Containers, together, shall provide maximum scalability at a lower cost. And, as the supply/capacity increases the marginal cost will drastically reduce. The approach of COTS hardware and containerization will enable enterprises such as Rakuten to decrease their Capex by 40% with lower unit costs for deployment and higher operational utilization.“
https://justanotherroy.wordpress.com/2020/12/27/the-6-things-about-5g/
Building on the scalability provide by the COTS hardware and containerization, the next factor that leads to the successful 5G deployment is interoperability. And, the OpenRAN is arguably the most critical component when operators want to have greater interoperability and lower switching cost. The OpenRAN promises an alternative to the legacy Radio Access Network (RAN) [1], one of the costliest parts of the infrastructure. In a traditional RAN, hardware components and software codes are strongly coupled, and interfaces do not support interoperability among different vendors, implying nearly all equipment come from only one close supplier. With the virtualization that OpenRAN brings, operators can run software-based network functions on COTS servers. Open interfaces allow the use of one supplier’s radios with another’s processors.

A key product Rakuten has lately promoted heavily is RCP (short for Rakuten Communications Platform), a cloud-native platform combining “the latest technology in virtualization and automation, including containers and microservices”. Rakuten aims to bring what they have learned in Japan to the global market where it can serve CSPs in other markets to “develop open networks”. RCP’s current partners include Telefonica, STC (Saudi Telecom Company), and Tech Mahindra.
Amin believe RCP will have the capability to disrupt the enterprise and private network market too, as it would largely reduce the cost of deployment of private networks. Another offerings to be launched early next year will be the enterprise version of its Rakuten Link (which is consumer facing now), called E-Link (“E” for enterprise). This new business application will have all the features of Zoom (the platform on which this analyst call took place) in addition to carrier mail, cloud storage and other features corporate users would ask for.
RCP’s main platform is ready and will be in the shape to conduct proof of concept implementation by the beginning of next year. When answering Telecoms.com’s question on Rakuten’s investment in Altiostar and the potential conflict of interest when Altiostar is treated differently from other OpenRAN vendors as Rakuten promotes RCP, Amin claimed Altiostar’s technology capabilities are superior, which convinced him to make the investment, and the company has a time to market advantage. However, Amin said, RCP customers will be able to decide whether they want to use Altiostar or they prefer other vendors.
Throughout the call, Amin worked hard to convinced the analysts present that despite the heavy investment needed to roll out its 4G and 5G networks, and the small number of subscribers it has attracted, Rakuten’s plan is still on course to achieve its target of disrupting the Japanese mobile market. The company is banking high hopes on new products like RCP to disrupt more sectors, including the enterprise market, and to become a solution provider to CSPs in other parts of the world.

Cashless payments are becoming the standard in Japan, and point programs are playing an important role in the new shift in consumer shopping habits. It took 15 years for Rakuten’s flagship loyalty program to award its first trillion points, yet little more than three years later, Rakuten awarded its second trillionth point in 2020. Here’s what has happened since 2017 to lead to such incredible acceleration for Rakuten’s point program.
https://rakuten.today/blog/rakuten-today-top-stories-2020.html
Two trillion (2,000,000,000,000) points. The Rakuten Points program celebrated an important milestone in September 2020 when it awarded its two trillionth cumulative point to a lucky member. With each point equivalent to one yen, that’s more than $18 billion USD. Or, put another way, more than 260 points for every person alive on Earth today. Either way, that’s a lot of points.
Perhaps the most impressive fact about this milestone is the speed at which it was reached. While it took 15 years for Rakuten’s flagship loyalty program to award its first trillion points, the second trillion took little more than three years.
What has changed since 2017 to allow for this marked acceleration? Let’s take a look.
Rakuten’s expanding ecosystem
In 2017, it was already well-established practice for Rakuten members to accumulate and spend their points on a wide variety of goods and services, whether online or at brick-and-mortar stores. But now there are more ways than ever for members to use their points.
Why not let your points work for you? Shortly after that first trillion, Rakuten Securities launched its Point Investment service, which allows users to exchange points for investment trusts and domestic stocks. In 2018, the service was streamlined to make investing with points even easier. 2019 brought users the ability to pay insurance premiums for certain insurance products offered by Rakuten General Insurance.
Of course, without the fun factor, a points program is unlikely to catch on and rise above the competition. Rakuten, which has long believed that shopping is entertainment, puts the user experience first. As a result, research has found Rakuten’s points program to be the number one loyalty points program in Japan in overall customer satisfaction.*

The 14 analysts offering 12-month price forecasts for Rakuten Inc have a median target of 11.04, with a high estimate of 26.92 and a low estimate of 7.49. The median estimate represents a +17.13% increase from the last price of 9.43.

The Rakuten Mobile revolution
2020 was the year that Rakuten Mobile became a telco to watch around the globe. The mobile innovator became Japan’s fourth mobile network operator, launching its full-scale commercial 4G service in April and then 5G less than six months later. The company’s world-first technology, visionary partnerships and consumer-first pricing have already begun to disrupt Japan’s mobile industry.
https://rakuten.today/blog/rakuten-today-top-stories-2020.html
Tokyo, December 30, 2020 - Rakuten Mobile, Inc. today announced that the total number of applications for the Rakuten UN-LIMIT service plan launched on April 8, 2020, has surpassed 2 million as of December 30, 2020.
The Rakuten UN-LIMIT service plan offers unlimited data use within Rakuten network areas and unlimited domestic calls using the Rakuten Link app for a monthly fee of 2,980 yen. The service plan also offers an attractive 5GB of data per month within service areas provided by Rakuten Mobile’s domestic roaming partner, in addition to a maximum data transmission speed of 1Mbps after using the allocated 5GB of data*1,2. Rakuten Mobile also offers a range of popular incentives and campaigns including offering 3 million customers their first year of service free of charge*3 and incentives for product purchases*4. On September 30, 2020, Rakuten Mobile further improved its offering of convenient customer services with the launch of the Rakuten UN-LIMIT V service plan, including 5G and 4G service*5 for the same monthly fee as the previous 4G plan.
In November 2020, Rakuten Mobile launched its Zero Declaration, a range of initiatives aimed at improving convenience for customers and promoting a mobile market in which customers can more freely choose the carrier service to suit their own needs. Designed to redefine expectations for mobile carrier services, these initiatives include elimination of handling fees, mobile number portability (MNP) transfer fees and contract cancellation fees, as well as free-of-charge exchange and re-issue of SIM cards.

Daher dürfte Rakuten Mobile m.E. enorm von Fortschritten bei der Bekämpfung von Corona profitieren.
Rakuten eyes pilot for its Web-only bank operations
Rakuten International Commercial Bank (樂天國際商銀) plans to launch a pilot for its Web-only operations by the end of next month, company chairman Chien Ming-jen (簡明仁) said on Monday.
Initially, the bank plans to provide services to its 100 employees, as well as 3,500 staff at its shareholders IBF Financial Holdings Co (國票金控) and Japanese e-commerce firm Rakuten Inc’s local unit, Chien said.
In the first phase, the bank would focus on its information systems, he said, without revealing when formal operations would begin.
“We will have a killer business strategy and we will not initiate a price war, which the Financial Supervisory Commission [FSC] has urged us to avoid,” Chien told reporters on the sidelines of a ceremony in Taipei, at which Rakuten Bank signed a deal with Central Deposit Insurance Corp (中央存保) to become its 400th insured entity and the first that is a Web-only bank.
Rakuten Bank received an operating license from the commission earlier this month, ahead of two peers, Next Bank (將來銀行) and Line Bank (連線商業銀行).
