Rakuten wesentlich besser als Rocket
Rakuten Mobile reports it is on track to launch full commercial services in April. The new network architecture is expected to allow deployment of new services and lays the groundwork for implementation of 5G.

Rakuten Mobile has since reached its previously stated goal of activating 3,000 4G LTE base stations by 2020, and said it’s on pace to exceed the minimum target of 3,432 base stations required by Japanese regulators in March.
Throughout the trial, which got underway in October 2019, Rakuten Mobile says it has consistently improved service and expanded its coverage area. The trial service is now available in Tokyo’s 23 wards, in addition to Kobe, Nagoya, and Osaka.
Rakuten Mobile President Yoshihisa Yamada said the operator’s cloud-native network architecture enables the company to operate at lower costs and reduced capex. “It also allows for the flexible deployment of new services as we’re not dependent on dedicated hardware,” he said in prepared remarks. “And finally, it allows for the simple, fast, and low-cost implementation of 5G since this is essentially a software upgrade for us.”

Rakuten Mobile says it’s making steady progress deploying 4G base stations with more than 3,000 now on air and a target of 4,400 base stations by the time it makes its commercial launch as a mobile network operator in April.
The company is in the midst of a trial period for its mobile network. It launched its Free Supporter Program in October 2019 with 5,000 participants. Today, it announced the expansion of the trial to an additional 20,000 participants.

Nur gerade so, meine ich. Und das ist eine Schwachstelle, wenn es nicht gelingt die Preise anzuheben.

Rakuten Kobo
Pricing: Free to upload
Royalties: 70% on books priced more than $2.99 in the U.S. OR 45% for books priced below $2.99 — more info here
Rakuten Kobo is the last big retailer that you should know. It’s a Canadian company (that’s a subsidiary of the Japanese e-commerce giant Rakuten) — as such, it’s got a strong reach in the international eBook market. However, it’s only the #5 store in terms of market share in the U.S., though it’s growing year by year.
Kobo Writing Life is Kobo's free-to-use self-publishing arm — and it's fairly simple to use! Kobo’s international focus is also a sweet bonus if you’re aiming to sell your eBook in countries outside of the U.S. Don’t forget that distributing to Kobo through Kobo Writing Life (rather than an aggregator) gives you several perks, too, one of which is access to some exclusive promotion opportunities on Kobo.

With a panel of millions of online shoppers, Rakuten Intelligence gives the most detailed, and accurate digital commerce data available, and is reported daily.
is the only service to measure digital commerce directly from the consumer, across all retailers, at the item level, and over time. Our retailer-independent methodology precisely measures commerce as it happens. By extracting detailed information from hundreds of millions of aggregated and anonymized e-receipts, Rakuten Intelligence can map the entire Purchase Graph, connecting each and every consumer to all their purchases.
Rakuten Intelligence gets its data from e-receipts – not a browser, app or software installed by the end-user – so its measurement reflects comprehensive shopping behavior across multiple devices, over time, which are key in an increasingly omnichannel retail world. Rakuten Intelligence is the exclusive e-commerce data provider for NPD’s Checkout Tracking e-commerce service.

Live Nation has partnered with e-commerce firm Rakuten to offer new members rewards and exclusive ticket offers to concerts.
The deal will provide various promotional and digital marketing activations across Live Nation and Rakuten online channels.
The Japanese firm allows users to earn cash back on almost everything they buy, and has paid more than $1.5bn in cash back on purchases from more than 3,500 retailers and online services in the past 20 years, making it the largest loyalty program of its kind.
Under the agreement, new loyalty members will earn a $50 Ticketmaster Ticket Cash code following their first qualifying purchase. The Ticket Cash code can be redeemed towards select events available on Ticketmaster, including Live Nation concerts, sporting events, theatre and more.
“We’re on a mission to deliver new and rewarding experiences to our members, and this collaboration with Live Nation is a big milestone,” said Amit Patel, chief executive of Rakuten Americas and Rakuten Rewards. “Joining the ranks of Live Nation’s partners demonstrates the immense value we provide to consumers.”
