Tapping into the company’s network of 150,000 publishers in North America, EMEA, APAC and LATAM Market Expansion

With Real Time Expert Analysis and Waived Publisher Fees, Accelerate Delivers Fast Results with Reduced Risks for Digital Marketers Seeking New Growth Opportunities

SAN MATEO, Calif., Oct. 26, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Rakuten Advertising has introduced Accelerate, a fully-managed, affiliate marketing program led by experienced analysts leveraging unique data insights, competitive intelligence, custom campaign modeling and publisher matchmaking to optimize performance marketing spend with unprecedented speed.

Unlike other affiliate programs, Accelerate assumes the financial risk of testing new publishers, meaning advertisers are guaranteed to only pay for performance. By tapping into the company’s network of 150,000 publishers in North America, EMEA, APAC and LATAM, Accelerate makes it simple and profitable for brands to expand into new markets and drive incremental sales.

“Accelerate allows advertisers to enjoy the benefits of affiliate marketing in a way that only a network of our scale and experience can deliver,” said Jeff Wender, Chief Revenue Officer, Rakuten Advertising. “By empowering our analysts and account teams to make strategic decisions about campaign investments, we can identify beneficial untapped publisher partnerships, establish optimized commission rates, and capitalize on even short-window opportunities to drive profits for advertisers. Accelerate has been well received by clients, and has exceeded our most optimistic expectations for performance and cost efficiency.”
The solution offers:
•§Guaranteed performance-based costs: Brands pay exclusively for performance via a fixed percentage of revenue, while Rakuten Advertising takes on the risks of up-front publisher investments. This is a shift from the traditional affiliate model that includes tracking and service fees and publisher commissions.

•§First-party Data & Insights: Accelerate taps into Rakuten Advertising’s unmatched data network, which spans its own first-party Rakuten data, its historic affiliate campaign and benchmarking data, and its leading consumer online shopping data and competitive market insight via Rakuten Intelligence.

•§Real-time analysis and optimization: All campaigns have a dedicated analyst who draws on data from Rakuten Advertising’s expansive network to constantly improve performance by recommending new publishers, optimizing commission payments, identifying paid-placement opportunities and customizing offers and performance incentives.

•§Publisher matchmaking: Data-led AI matchmaking identifies the best partners from Rakuten Advertising’s network of 150,000 global publishers to drive optimal growth for each campaign. With decisioning backed by historic network and market data, Rakuten’s algorithm identifies profitable relationships that wouldn’t be obvious via human matchmaking.

•§Fully managed program: Rakuten Advertising’s highly experienced analysts and account teams manage every aspect of a campaign, from publisher recruitment and communication to IO execution and paid placement negotiations, allowing teams to jump on even short-window opportunities with a speed and agility not possible with traditional programs.

Accelerate can be tailored for brands with a range of goals – whether it’s international expansion, launching a new business or product, enhancing an existing affiliate program or re-focusing in-house talent. By leveraging Rakuten Advertising’s dynamic commissioning rules, Accelerate account teams reward publishers for delivering targeted brand goals, and personalize campaigns to align with consumer interests and publisher content to create a more positive ad experience.

Accelerate has delivered notable results for brand partners, particularly for marketers who support emerging and direct-to-consumer brands. One example is Australian retailer Cotton On, which engaged Accelerate to expand its 10-year foothold in the United States, customizing the program to drive awareness, promote priority product lines, convert new customers and generate more sales.

“We had reached the right moment to aggressively expand in the U.S. and sought a partnership that would deliver the experience and expertise we needed to reach and influence consumers in the market. That led us to Accelerate,” said Brendan Sweeney, General Manager of Ecommerce at Cotton On. “Accelerate instantly gave us the strategic support, historical data and analytic expertise we needed to design an affiliate program that could effectively expand our U.S. business. As a result, our U.S. affiliate marketing sales have grown significantly year-over-year. Looking to the future, we’re excited to continue the momentum we’ve created with Accelerate in the U.S. by launching U.K., South Africa and APAC Accelerate programs to further elevate our business globally.”

Wender added, “We’re committed to helping brands capitalize on this period of economic recovery. Accelerate is a valuable addition to our suite of solutions that creates innovative, more customized ways for advertisers to interact with consumers, so they can scale quickly and recover their positions while reducing the risk of their digital advertising investment.”

Anime is king at Rakuten Books

Rakuten Books is much more than just a bookstore. With a vast catalog of DVDs, CDs, games and, of course, regular printed reading material, Rakuten Books possesses a unique overview of Japan’s ever-changing entertainment landscape.

Topping Rakuten Books’ sales charts for 2021 was the DVD release of anime blockbuster Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train. Exploring an alternative historical Japan, the highly acclaimed Demon Slayer series began as a manga in 2016, before receiving an anime adaptation in 2019. The franchise subsequently exploded in popularity, paving the way for a movie adaptation in late 2020. To say the franchise’s box office ambitions paid off would be quite the understatement: The movie went on to become the world’s highest-earning film of 2021, and the most successful Japanese film of all time.

Other entries in the top ten were the recent 98th, 99th and 100th volumes of perennially popular manga ONE PIECE, while the DVD of boy band ARASHI’s ARAFES 2020 at NATIONAL STADIUM show came in at number five.

Rakuten Books also published a list of top-selling anime DVDs by franchise. Winning the number two spot after Demon Slayer was the second season of horse racing anime Uma Musume Pretty Derby, followed by samurai fantasy Gin Tama.

Rakuten Kobo is a popular destination for all manner of eBooks ranging from novels and illustrated children’s books to business essays and how-to guides.

In Japan, one genre towers above the rest: manga. And with Kobo’s new supersized Elipsa eReader hitting stores earlier this year, Japan’s manga fans might just be onto something. The team at Kobo in Japan revealed its top-selling series of 2021.

Topping the list was Jujutsu Kaisen, which follows the story of a teenager thrust into a secretive society of sorcerers living in modern Japan. It received an anime adaptation in late 2020, sending interest for the manga soaring even higher and topping Kobo’s list. Time-traveling thriller Tokyo Revengers came in at number two, with the manga version of Demon Slayer entering the rankings at number three.

Open RAN Technology Could Play Key Role in Narrowing Digital Divide

Generic radio components could provide the flexibility and versatility needed to bring broadband access to those in need.

But McRae said he does not think efforts to bridge the digital divide should also pigeonhole providers into only using generic technologies. “I’m a realist: if I’ve got something that is proprietary, but it gives me an edge, why wouldn’t I use it?” he said.

“[However, I definitely think] that we can gain a competitive advantage – we strongly believe at BT that open RAN will give us a competitive advantage in a world where customers are demanding more and more, particularly on the service quality,” he said.

“We are very much looking at open RAN as another tool in that Swiss army knife of connectivity solutions.”

The utility of open RAN is significant, McRae said, in both low-density and urban regions alike. “We are looking at things like neutral hubs, where can we build a solution that allows multiple operators to connect in rural locations,” he said.

In the near future, Neobanks are anticipated to see a boom in user numbers

Neobanks, which arose as a result of global digitalization, will further gain in popularity among consumers in various regions of the world. This can be concluded from the pre- and post-pandemic development of the industry: at the end of 2020, the number of digital-only bank institutions had expanded at least fourfold compared to 2018 and the consumer adoption rate rose by six percentage points when taking a global average.

Moreover, as people convert their banking transactions to digital, even if they still have their main accounts at traditional banks, many are becoming aware that challenger banks, in conjunction with entirely online services are attractive because of better terms, as detailed in the report.

Open RAN adoption accelerates in 2022 and beyond - a growing ecosystem

By Eugina Jordan December 30, 2021

5G technology adoption and the cool, robust applications it enables such as IoT, Industry 4.0, autonomous driving, telehealth, robotics and more continue to drive Open Radio Access Networks (RAN) along with the promise of seamless network deployments and upgrades at lower costs.

According to Dell’Oro Group, cumulative Open RAN revenue from 2020 to 2025 could be as high as $15 billion, with Open RAN revenues accounting for more than 10% of the overall RAN market by 2025.
As more and more Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) turn to Open RAN for trials and deployments, our predictions for Open RAN in 2022 include a growing ecosystem:

1) The Radio Access Network (RAN) ecosystem multiplies (read more direct in the source)

2) More U.S. government incentives for volume builds and open interfaces (read more direct in the source)

3) Growing number of hyperscalers and edge computing (read more direct in the source)

63050 Postings, 7222 Tage Libudazu 7816: Open RAN is an unstoppable trend

    #7817
30.12.21 19:41
IDTechEx believes that Open RAN is an unstoppable trend. It is not a question of whether it will really take off, but rather of when there will be a large-scale deployment of Open RAN.

As of 2021, there are already several small-scale Open RAN trials underway, showing that the initiative is gaining pace. Vodafone, for example, said in June 2021 that it will start to build 5G Open RAN development in the UK, focusing on rural areas first. This will be Europe's first Open RAN commercial deployment. Vodafone also mentioned that they will further expand the Open RAN networks to other Vodafone-operated countries, such as other European countries and South Africa.

Vodafone is not the only telecom provider undertaking 5G Open RAN development in Europe. Its competitors, including Deutsche Telekom, Telefonica, and Orange, have all stated a strategic intention to deploy 5G Open RAN networks before 2025.

Japan is another important breeding ground for Open RAN; except for SoftBank, all the other Japanese telecom carriers are proactively embracing it. Rakuten, an early Open RAN pioneer, deployed their Open RAN 4G network in February 2019 and their Open RAN 5G networks in September 2020. NTT DOCOMO stated earlier this year that it will collaborate with Samsung on the development of 5G Open RAN networks.

In China, where the RAN infrastructure market is immense, telecom operators such as China Mobile and China Unicom are also trailing Open RAN equipment. In the U.S., Verizon stated that it will work with Samsung to deploy its mmWave and C-band (sub-6 GHz frequency range) holdings based on Open RAN from this year.

    #7819
31.12.21 12:35

In 2021, the company shifted its focus back from growth at all costs towards continuing on its profitability path. To that extent, it began introducing more and more services, which would essentially keep users tied to the app.

For instance, in June, Viber announced a partnership with Snapchat which would see the latter new AR Lenses as well as Bitmojis to the messaging platform.

Viber makes money via fees generated from its business account, subscription fees for international calls (Viber Out), as well as ads shown within the app.

Business Accounts

Viber generates income from fees associated with its business accounts. Dubbed Viber for Business, these accounts allow companies to interact with customers and answer any outstanding queries they have.

Examples include things like customer care, providing delivery updates, offering products and services within the conversation, or promoting new offerings.

Conversations are either managed by a person or through Viber’s own chatbots. These chatbots can even be developed in-house by the brand partner itself.

The fees that a business partner pays are dependent on the number of messages sent.

International Calls

Another source of revenue for Viber is its Viber Out product, a subscription offering that allows users to make international landline calls to almost anyone.

The subscription plan grants you unlimited calling hours to mobile and landline phones in over 60 countries.
Viber Out starts at $5.99 per month. Alternatively, users can also purchase individual packages if they intend to make just a few calls.

Interestingly enough, compared to many of its major competitors, which include WhatsApp, Signal, or Telegram, Viber is the only one offering such a service.

It, therefore, allows them to attract users that, for example, seek to connect with family members from back home who don’t have a mobile phone.

Ads

Lastly, Viber also makes money from displaying a banner and other types of ads throughout its mobile and desktop apps.

To serve those ads, Viber uses your IP based-location, age, the device used, messaging activity, gender, and a few more data points to display ads. However, users can opt out of allowing Viber to use one’s age and gender for those targeted ads.

Advertisers then set a budget and pay a small fee whenever a user either sees (i.e., impression) or clicks on an ad.

According to The Next Web, Viber currently derives 20 percent of its revenue from ads. The remaining 80 percent is equally split between its business account fees and Viber Out subscription income.

After a spate of deals in the buy now, pay later space and endless stories on the subject, ShopBack’s acquisition of Hoolah shows how BNPL still holds some element of surprise.
The sale of Hoolah’s business wasn’t a surprise given its recent troubles, but it was ShopBack’s move that made us sit up. The Temasek-backed cashback platform just recently banked US$40 million.

Timely deal for Hoolah: The deal couldn’t have come at a better time for Hoolah, which has gone through a tough time recently, even having to lay off staff.

…and a good one for ShopBack: With BNPL, ShopBack can tap into the direct-to-consumer ecommerce wave sweeping across Asia, and reduce its reliance on major marketplaces like Shopee and Lazada. This is significant because these marketplaces had temporarily halted partnerships with ShopBack in recent months – though these have since been resumed.

The path to customer acquisition: BNPL’s ability to quickly acquire merchants as well as users is one reason everyone wants to jump on the BNPL bandwagon.

rakuten group co., ltd
seiyu gmbh
