Local Corporation Records 1 Billion Monthly Ad Impressions

Online local media company, Local Corporation, has managed to achieve 1 billion ad impressions in the last month on 2011. This tally includes ads displayed at the Local.com site as well as the more than 1,000 syndicated sites served by Local.
Local Corporation was able to reach this impressive number by using its new network for display ads, which enables advertisements on third-party publisher sites. In November of 2011, Local Corporation launched a cloud-based solution to enable the creation and display of rich media ads. The solution from Rovion called RAMP incorporates local product data using Krillion.
Ad agencies can now track the display of ads in the online and mobile spaces and deliver ads appropriately using a single tag for the ads. This enables ad agencies to more effectively monitor the efficacy of their ads and fine-tune campaigns.
“Consumer reach continues to be a key performance indicator for our business. We are expanding our display business to provide us with increased reach to online consumers,” said Michael Sawtell, the president and COO of Local Corporation. “This allows us to provide further value to our direct subscription advertisers as well as our ad partners. Display represents approximately 10 percent of our overall revenue and is one of the fastest growing areas of our business.”
As local ads are more likely to help small and medium businesses increase footfalls, this is a vital area for advertisers. Studies by BIA/Kelsey indicate that local display ads that now account for 20 percent of total display ads will increase their share to 30 percent by 2015, accounting for $4.9 billion.

Local Corporation LOCM, a leading online local media company, today announced new online video ad capabilities for its rich media solutions, powered by the Rovion ad management platform.

Groupon hat momentan eine Marktkapitalisierung von 6,5 Milliarden und ist 500mal so groß wie der Winzling Spreebird, was bei einem Herunterbrechen auf 12-15 Millionen Wert für Spreebird hinausliefe. Für 4% der Umsätze wäre das eine Bewertung, die bei einer Übertragung auf das gesamte Unternehmen auf einen Wert von Local.com von 300 bis 350 Millionen hinausliefe.

Zwischen Ende 2010 bis Ende 2011 war die Entwicklung laut Google Trends eher flach und nur leicht positiv. Aber seit Anfang 2012 zeigt sich nun ein deutlicher Anstieg auf neue Allzeithochs:

Bin mal gespannt, ob sich das auch heute Abend in den Zahlen zeigt. Das erste Quartal ist zwar hinsichtlich Werbeeinnahmen inzwischen das schwächste Quartal (laut HC im letzten Call), aber vielleicht kann der starke Traffic das kompensieren oder sogar überkompensieren.

Jetzt bin ich mal gespannt wie der Markt die Zahlen und den leicht verbesserten Ausblick aufnimmt. Ist halt alles noch knapp auf Kante genäht und geht recht langsam voran.
Was mir nicht gefällt ist die nur geringe Quartalssteigerung der Exact Match Kunden von 720 auf 860.

Q4-RKV is higher every year: Revenue per thousand visitors (RKV) for first quarter 2012 was $285, up 35.1% from first quarter 2011 RKV of $211, but decreased a little against Q4/2011. Without this decrease of RKV the increase of revenues from this important part of the busines of LOCM would be a lot higher than 0.5 million.
18.0 million from 25.2 million are 71.4% of the revenues of Local.com in Q1/2012.

Das Adjusted Net Income war im Q3 2010 $0.27. Ende 2012 will man $0.06 erzielen. Vielleicht gibt´s nochmal leichte Prognoseanhebungen und es werden $0.10. Das wäre immer noch nur ein Drittel des besten Q-Ergebnisses bisher (das war auch der Zeitraum meines Einstiegs). Klar, es wird investiert und das ist natürlich positiv. Aber noch sind die Ergebnisse dieser Investitionen relativ klein. Man braucht eben noch mehr Geduld.
Interessant ist, dass nach den letzten Zahlen praktisch keine Reaktion erfolgte, wie seit Anfang 2011 nach jedem Quartal. Die sma´s nähern sich immer weiter an. Die Richtungsentscheidung steht noch an.
