and the Barents Blue project, the consulting engineering company Multiconsult
has completed a geotechnical survey campaign at Markoppneset, in the Norwegian
municipality of Hammerfest.
Horisont Energy has selected Markoppneset in Repparfjorden as the most promising
location for the Barents Blue Project. Geotechnical site and nearshore
investigations confirm the site selection and the feasibility of the chosen
site. As part of Multiconsult’s scope, extensive geotechnical onshore and
nearshore soil investigations have been carried out during the winter of
2021/2022, together with seabed mapping nearshore. Geotechnical design studies
of the site were also conducted. The result from the work remains positive,
confirming that the area is fully suitable for the Barents Blue ammonia plant.
“The Multiconsult geotechnical mapping of the Markoppneset site demonstrates
that we are on track with the development of Barents Blue. This gives us the
assurances we need regarding the quality of the factory site,” says Horisont
Energi CEO Bjørgulf Haukelidsæter Eidesen.
A large area of approximately 400.000 m2 is needed for the plant, and
Markoppneset is a suitable location for this purpose, with fairly flat
topography and ample space for future expansion, according to the civil studies
performed by Multiconsult. The location also has solid access road and airport
connections both to Alta and Hammerfest. The area’s proximity also allows for
the needed technical infrastructure and suitable freshwater sources.
Repparfjorden is sheltered, while at the same time providing sufficient space
for manoeuvring, anchoring and waiting for efficient product handling.
Year-round safe marine operations have been demonstrated at the Snøhvit LNG
facility for more than a decade, and this experience and maritime expertise in
Hammerfest document the feasibility and is also expected to provide synergies
for marine operations and tugs for Barents Blue.
“We have been able to provide experience and expertise from all of Multiconsult,
including local engineering knowledge at our office in Alta. Based on our 50
years of experience with terminal projects of this size in Norway, including
Finnmark, we consider Horisont’s choice to provide an optimum site selection for
the Barents Blue project,” says Arnor Jensen, regional director of Multiconsult.
Optimization of site preparation involves management of soil and rock materials
on a large scale. The excavated soil materials must be moved, while all
excavated rock, including those from establishment of tunnels and caverns, will
be reused on-site. Quality rock fill will to a certain extent be brought into
the site to prepare and level the area to the planned elevation.
The plant concept at Markoppneset includes cavern storage of liquid ammonia. The
site is well suited for such storage. Following the findings in the site
surveys, further optimisation studies are planned for cavern storage in the next
phase.
Being planned in cooperation with Equinor and Vår Energi, Barents Blue will
produce ammonia from water, renewable energy, and natural gas, with CO2 being
captured and permanently stored in an offshore reservoir called Polaris. Ammonia
is both a major industrial gas and a potent energy carrier due to its high
hydrogen content which can be used as a fuel directly."

Ist zwar nicht mehr aktuell, aber zeigt das HRGI auch an grünem Ammoniak Interesse hat. Würde also nicht ausschließen, dass irgendwann mal ein grünes Ammoniak Projekt forciert wird ;)
"SANDNES – March 3, 2022 – Horisont Energi (EURONEXT: HRGI) and the energy
company St1 Nordic Oy invite municipalities in the Finnmark region to discuss
potential locations for a green ammonia plant in Finnmark based on new renewable
energy.
In August 2021, Horisont Energi and St1 announced plans for a pre-study to
explore the opportunities for a green ammonia plant, to develop a concept for a
hybrid ammonia plant which will set a new standard for energy efficiency and
cost efficiency for production of green ammonia. The concept will consist of
hydrogen production from electrolysis from water, and hydrogen production based
on biomass or biomethane.
“We truly believe that Finnmark is one of the best places in the world to locate
facilities to be competitive in the market for green ammonia,” says Horisont
Energi CEO Bjørgulf Haukelidsæter Eidesen.
The facilities can provide positive ripple effects for the host municipality,
including new local and regional jobs and potential synergies with the fish
farming industry utilising biogas.
“We are sending invitations to all municipalities with a coastline in Finnmark.
We hope that this process can crystalise opportunities that fit our needs,” says
Eidesen.
The invitation is sent to the municipalities of Loppa, Hasvik, Alta, Hammerfest,
Kvalsund, Måsøy, Porsanger, Nordkapp, Lebesby, Tana, Gamvik, Berlevåg, Nesseby,
Sør-Varanger, Vadsø, Båtsfjord, Vardø, and Troms and Finnmark county."

announced that the Barents Blue project has accomplished key milestones during
the last few months to develop the ammonia factory in Hammerfest, Norway. Most
of the technical studies for the concept phase have been submitted to the
project, and Horisont Energi received political approval before Christmas for an
agreement with the municipality of Hammerfest for an option to use the site at
Markoppneset, and a public hearing for the zoning plan has been carried out.
As the operator of the ammonia facility in the Barents Blue project, Horisont
Energi has had a number of technical studies related to the design of the
factory performed. This includes two large concept studies in which the factory
has been specified by Saipem and Technip Engines, in cooperation with the Danish
technology company Haldor Topsoe. In addition, Multiconsult has completed a
study for the necessary infrastructure and preparation of the site. A study of
the gas pipeline for the transport of purchased natural gas to Markoppneset and
the transport of CO2 to the Polaris reservoir has been provided by Subsea 7. An
evaluation of the various alternatives is now carried out in order to make a
final concept decision. Meanwhile, the FEED studies are being prepared for the
next phase of the project, which will lead to a final investment decision.
On 9 December 2021, Hammerfest municipality decided to grant Horisont Energi
(Barents Blue ammonia factory) an option on parts of Hammerfest municipality’s
Markopp property, corresponding to around 75 acres. The option means that a
contract will be signed with the municipality after the zoning plan has been
finally adopted and before the construction of the site is commenced.
The zoning plan is an important step for the Barents Blue project, and final
approval of the regulations must be completed before the preparation of the site
begins. Horisont Energi notified that the zoning process would start and
initiated a public hearing of the proposed zoning plan of the industrial area at
Markoppneset on 21 December 2021. All inputs from the hearing have now been
received, and a total of 20 consultation inputs were received. Horisont Energi
have reviewed the input with our partners and conduct a thorough process to
maintain the project’s further progress.
These are all important milestones for Horisont Energi, leading to the
establishment of the factory. At Markoppneset, the factory will produce blue
ammonia from blue hydrogen, produced from clean water and natural gas with CO2
capture at record high levels, in synthesis with nitrogen separated from air. In
the production process, CO2 will be captured and transported for permanent
storage in the Polaris carbon storage facility off the coast of Finnmark,
Norway. Polaris is set to become the second commercial CO2 storage facility on
the Norwegian shelf.
Barents Blue is a cooperation project with Equinor and Vår Energi."
Horisont Energi muss also eine Kläranlage bauen.

(EURONEXT: HRGI) (the “Company”) announced a strategic review to explore several
options for its projects within CCS and clean ammonia. Danske Bank Markets was
appointed as financial advisor for the review.
The aim for the strategic review was to identify and evaluate opportunities that
would maximize shareholder value and ensure that the Company is well-positioned
to secure the required funding essential for key project milestones and the
successful execution of its long-term strategy.
The Company has together with its financial advisor conducted an exhaustive and
thorough process towards potential investors. The main take aways from the
review may be summarised as follows:
- The market for green transition projects has experienced a downturn since its
peak in 2021, coupled with a sharp increase in interest rates. Several investors
in this space have shifted towards cash flow-positive businesses.
- The uncertainty related to the green transition, and the change in political
and market sentiment towards green energy solutions is now causing an increased
level of uncertainty within the investor community.
Because of the changes to the market and the investor sentiment, the strategic
review has taken somewhat longer than expected. The strategic review with Danske
Bank Markets has been completed, and despite significant investor interest no
additional financing has been secured. However, the Company is continuing to
pursue remaining investor tracks towards completion.
Progress has however been made on the work streams both for Barents Blue and
Gismarvik CO2 hub, and the Board is of the opinion that the Company and its
shareholders will benefit from the value creation opportunities associated with
each project.
To enable Horisont Energi to reach important project milestones, the Company
will implement actions to extend the capital runway beyond 2025. The Board
therefore has decided to further reduce the costs through additional manpower
reductions. The implementation of the manpower reduction will be effective March
31. The planned level of employees remaining with the Company is 10-15 when the
process is completed, depending on the overall progress of the Company’s
activities.
With these measures, the Board believes that the Company is well positioned to
navigate the current market challenges.
