To make story short, I got a Tweet lead today pointing to a website called wind4me.com. And here is the story that moves A-Power Energy Generation Systems, Ltd. (NASDAQ:APWR) - to the best of my knowledge.
"APWR Booking New DPG Biomass and Hydro Power Contracts". It is important to read comments though. One of them says "Why don’t they release an official PR??? Just does not make sense…."
I tend to agree with this. We have seen too much of relatively unknown websites tarnishing reputation of Chinese companies in September. Think of Duoyuan Global Water Inc (NYSE:DGW) or Duoyuan Printing, Inc. (NYSE:DYP). While the intent of this news is totally the opposite, the low profile of the source suggests investors better exercise caution! I would feel much better if A-Power Energy Generation Systems, Ltd. (NASDAQ:APWR) would step forward and make a public statement. Until then it's just a guessing game, as far as I'm concerned.
By the way; if you happened to read today's WSJ, see the last page of Section C. Overcapacity build up in the Chinese wind generation systems...
If you have a theory behinfd the surge for A-Power Energy Generation Systems, Ltd. (NASDAQ:APWR), please share with the class.
geil geil geil!

According to Bloomberg's coverage of a 21st Century Business Herald report, the head of China's National Energy Administration said the country may spend as much as 1.5 trillion yuan, or $224 billion, on wind power over the next decade. That would represent 30% of the five-trillion yuan in alternative energy spending the country has planned through 2020, according to NEA representative Jiang Bing's remarks in July.
As a whole, the Wind Energy Stocks Index is up fractionally on the day, led by Broadwind Energy (NASDAQ: BWEN - News). The stock is trading higher by 25% on no company specific news, but shares are still off by more than -80% from their 52-week high -- the worst in the Index.
Meanwhile, China Wind Systems Inc (NASDAQ: CWS - News) and Shenyang, China-based A-Power Energy Generation Systems (NASDAQ: APWR - News) are mixed on the day, with the former climbing by 2% as the latter sinks by -4%. The stocks are both more than -40% off from their respective 52-week highs, ranking them ahead of only Broadwind by the metric.
