Gruss Thomas.
SUNNYVALE, Calif., May 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Spansion Inc. (Nasdaq: SPSN - News), the world's largest pure-play provider of Flash memory solutions, today announced that the Company has received notice from NASDAQ that the last day of trading for Spansion common stock on The NASDAQ Stock Market will be May 6, 2009, as a result of a delisting determination which will take effect before trading on May 7, 2009.
Also, macht euch locker.
Spansion to delist from Nasdaq beginning May 7
Jessie Shen, DIGITIMES, Taipei [Wednesday 6 May 2009]
NOR flash chipmaker Spansion, which on March 2 filed for bankruptcy protection, has announced that it has received notice from Nasdaq that the last day of trading for Spansion common stock on the Nasdaq Stock Market will be May 6, 2009.
Spansion said it does not expect the delisting to have any significant impact to its business, and the company is making progress on its restructuring plans. With cash balances of US$195 million as of April 27, Spansion said it has adequate cash to continue normal business operations.
Spansion's discussions with creditors continue to progress, according to the company. Its goal is to have creditor and court approval of the restructuring plan by the fourth quarter of this year. If the restructuring plan is approved, Spansion will emerge from Chapter 11 and operate without the constraints currently imposed by the US Bankruptcy Court, said the company.
Spansion added it plans to seek a relisting on one of the major stock exchanges at the appropriate time after the completion of its restructuring process.
Spansion also noted that it is actively pursuing strategic alternatives for its wireless business. The company recently announced that it intends to turn to focus on the embedded solutions market and intellectual property licensing.

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Spansion Inc. said that the company has received notice from NASDAQ that the last day of trading for its common stock on NASDAQ will be May 6.
This is the result of a delisting determination, which will take effect before trading on May 7, 2009.
As reported, NOR flash leader Spansion (Sunnyvale, Calif.) recently filed for protection under U.S. Bankruptcy laws. Sources believe that two companies--IBM Corp. and Micron Technology Inc.--are separately tracking Spansion's progress in the bankruptcy court. It's unclear if IBM or Micron will buy Spansion. Micron is a more likely suitor, according to sources.
Spansion is also looking at cutting more costs, including plans to shutter its Japanese unit. The company declined to comment.
Over time, Spansion may go it alone. Recently, the company announced that it plans to pursue a standalone strategy focused on the embedded solutions market and the intellectual property (IP) licensing business. The company is also actively pursuing strategic alternatives for its wireless business.
The company's goal is to have creditor and court approval of the restructuring plan by the fourth quarter. If the restructuring plan is approved, Spansion will emerge from Chapter 11 and operate without the constraints currently imposed by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court.
Stockholder voting rights will not be affected by the delisting and the company plans to continue to hold its annual stockholder meeting, according to the company.
Additionally, the company plans to seek a relisting on one of the major stock exchanges at the appropriate time after the completion of its restructuring process.
