AT&T & Papa John's Team Up With NeoMedia
NeoMedia Technologies, the global leader in camera-initiated barcode transactions for mobile devices, has teamed up with AT&T and Papa John's to launch a commercial trial in the US using 2D barcodes and mobile code reading software from NeoMedia.
Building on its continued online success, Papa John’s, the world's third largest pizza company and the industry leader in online ordering, recently launched mobile web ordering, a system that enables pizza lovers to set-up an account or place an order right from their mobile phone.
For the commercial trial, 90,000 mailers were sent out to AT&T subscribers in selected markets inviting them to be among the first to use their AT&T phone in a brand new way. Those interested in participating could text PIZZA to 7316, which would deliver instructions on how to download and install the NeoReader onto their iPhone or other AT&T supported device.
Once installed, the 2D barcode could be scanned using the NeoReader, which would provide a link with a built-in promotion code to Papa John's mobile website. Users would then login with their existing Papa John's account information or create a new account to redeem the offer.
“From being the first in the industry to introduce system wide online and text ordering, to our myPapa widget and now mobile web ordering, we’re always seeking new opportunities to meet the needs of our customers,” said Jim Ensign, vice president of marketing communications for Papa John’s. “This is just another step to give our customers the convenience they’re asking for, while making it even easier for new customers to experience the great taste of Papa John’s."
As the US continues to embrace 2D barcodes, Papa John's looks forward to staying ahead of new and emerging technologies and positioning itself as a leader in the evolving mobile code ecosystem.

NeoMedia and Format Dynamics Join Forces to Integrate Innovations inOnline & Offline Advertising
14:50 11.09.08
ATLANTA, GA and DENVER, CO -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 09/11/08 -- NeoMedia
Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB: NEOM), and Format Dynamics, Inc., today
announced a strategic alliance designed to accelerate innovation in
both online and offline advertising.
NeoMedia develops technology that connects 2D barcodes to interactive
content served via mobile networks. Format Dynamics has defined a new
advertising category by creating ad inventory served only to the
printed Web page. Together, NeoMedia and Format Dynamics will provide
the publishing and advertising communities with new ways to increase
the value of traditional advertising vehicles, both individually and
in a strategic alliance.
"Advertisers are demanding more accountability from their media
investments as overall ad budgets shrink," said Ethan Holien, CEO,
Format Dynamics. "By teaming up with NeoMedia, we are providing
advertisers with a unique channel for targeting consumers, yielding
precise ROI metrics. At the same time, we're providing Web publishers
with net-new, measurable inventory for incremental revenue."
NeoMedia focuses on improving advertising effectiveness via 2D
barcodes that "hyperlink" printed materials to interactive mobile web
content. Format Dynamics' CleanPrint(TM) technology reformats the
printed Web page into a magazine-like format and digitally serves a
targeted ad within each page. In addition, PrintTracker(TM) from
Format Dynamics tracks all browser-based Web printing behavior,
helping Web publishers to analyze campaign metrics and identify
monetization opportunities.
Format Dynamics will extend NeoMedia's barcode technology to the ads
it serves, providing marketers with additional analytics through a
new measurable response mechanism with little incremental cost above
their initial media investment.
"By working together with Format Dynamics to provide a broader range
of media options in the unique niche of integrating offline and
online advertising, we hope to draw more attention to our offerings
while extending real value and innovation to our advertising
clients," said Iain McCready, CEO, NeoMedia Technologies.
"Advertisers are still trying to find effective and scalable
opportunities in the mobile arena. NeoMedia's mobile barcode scanning
solutions deliver engaging, consumer-initiated interactions with
brands that leverage existing media investments."

NeoReader for BlackBerry Now Available -- Easy Access to MobileContent on the Go
14:50 11.09.08
ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwire - September 11, 2008) - NeoMedia
Technologies (OTCBB: NEOM), the global leader in camera-initiated
transactions for mobile devices, announced today that their mobile
barcode scanning application -- NeoReader® -- is now available for
camera-enabled BlackBerry® smartphones from Research In Motion (RIM).
The NeoReader transforms the BlackBerry into a barcode scanner which
provides instant access to mobile content by clicking on 2D barcodes.
The NeoReader's simple "one click" access makes the mobile internet
much more accessible for BlackBerry users -- by scanning 2D barcodes
via the phone's camera, users avoid typing in long URLs and
navigating cumbersome menus. The 2D barcodes serve as "hyperlinks"
from printed mediums to mobile web content and are activated when and
where users choose.
NeoReader-capable devices for the BlackBerry feature the Curve(TM)
(8300, 8310, 8320) and Pearl(TM) (8100, 8110, 8120) product lines.
BlackBerry users can download the NeoReader software to their phone
by going to get.neoreader.com on their mobile browser. In addition to
the BlackBerry, the NeoReader code scanning software is available for
handsets from most major manufacturers (go to www.neoreader.com for
more information regarding specific models).
"Offering a version of NeoReader for the BlackBerry enables us to
reach a completely new group of smartphone users -- business
professionals. High rates of data usage and time-constrained lives
combine to make business professionals a very attractive market for
mobile barcode scanning," states Iain McCready, CEO of NeoMedia. "The
NeoReader for BlackBerry expands the NeoReader-capable handset
universe across a critical platform. RIM leads the fast growing U.S.
converged-device market with a 41% share(1). NeoMedia aims to
leverage this rising consumer interest in a rich mobile experience by
enabling a ubiquitous mobile barcode scanning market and ensuring
consumer experiences with mobile scanning are secure, fast and
reliable. I believe NeoReader can be the breakthrough needed to
deliver the promise of an easy and accessible mobile internet
experience."
The NeoReader is a universal barcode scanning application that reads
standard 2D barcode symbologies -- QR, Data Matrix, Aztec -- so
BlackBerry users won't need multiple barcode readers. Many companies
are beginning to utilize 2D barcodes in their marketing and
communications efforts. By installing the NeoReader, BlackBerry users
will enjoy the value and convenience of a rich and relevant
interactive experience wherever they encounter a mobile barcode.

Gavitec at the 3rd Annual Mobile Marketing Conference in Warsaw, Poland
ATLANTA, Georgia and AACHEN Germany – September 4, 2008.
NeoMedia Technologies (OTCBB: NEOM), the global leader in camera-initiated transactions for mobile devices, announced today that Dr. Christian Steinborn, CEO of Gavitec AG-mobile digit (a wholly owned subsidiary of NeoMedia), was the keynote speaker at the 3rd Annual Mobile Marketing Congress in Warsaw, Poland. He presented his views on the future of mobile marketing and showcased new ways to leverage mobile marketing opportunities. Dr. Steinborn also addressed the challenges in creating an eco-system for “scan-commerce” applications before the audience of leading mobile marketing and advertising companies in Poland.
Dr. Steinborn says: “The mobile ecosystem is growing. Mobile ticketing, couponing and payment services have become more convenient, accessible and reliable as a result of innovative new product development for both businesses and consumers. NeoMedia develops and produces barcode reading hardware (under the Gavitec product name) as well as barcode reading software for mobile phones. The Gavitec scanners are the optimal solution for successful mobile marketing campaigns. They are a new and significant communication tool for innovative, well-directed and cost-effective marketing approaches with precise response evaluation. The Mobile Marketing Conference in Warsaw offers the ideal platform to provide experts of Eastern Europe with innovative solutions and technologies.”
Although the term "mobile marketing" seems to be mentioned whenever advertising is discussed today, success stories are limited outside of Asia even though the technology to implement mobile marketing programs exists. To reach market standardization, it is necessary to offer systems which are accepted by a wide range of customers and established as "de facto" standards. NeoMedia specializes in technological solutions that increase the value of the mobile phone as an advertising and communication device, with many advantages: precise consumer targeting, ubiquity, interactivity and direct response measurement capability.

NeoMedia and Papa John's Deliver FREE Pizza on the Go
ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwire - September 12, 2008) - NeoMedia Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB: NEOM) and Papa John's International, Inc. today announced the successful conclusion of an innovative market test that combined Papa John's newly launched mobile ordering website and NeoMedia's mobile barcode scanning solutions to offer free pizzas to consumers across the U.S.
Papa John's recently launched its mobile ordering website, enabling consumers to order pizza directly from their mobile phones. In an effort to drive more consumers to their mobile ordering site, Papa John's teamed up with NeoMedia to launch a promotion leveraging 2D barcodes. Select consumers in Papa John's markets across the country received a mailer containing a 2D barcode that when scanned with a mobile phone, directed consumers to Papa John's mobile ordering website where they received a promotional code for free pizza.
Consumers seeking a free pizza texted in the word PIZZA, which prompted the delivery of instructions on how to install the NeoReader mobile barcode scanning application onto their mobile phone. Once the NeoReader application was installed, consumers could scan the 2D barcode on the mailer linking them directly to Papa John's mobile ordering site. Existing Papa John's online users were prompted to login and first time users were asked to create a new account to receive their free pizza.
"Mobile web ordering is another major step in giving our customers convenient ways to experience the great taste of Papa John's," said Bob Ford, director of online marketing for Papa John's. "The addition of a 2D barcode promotion continues our tradition of industry firsts and creates a new way for customers to engage with Papa John's."
"We were delighted to work with an industry innovator like Papa John's to launch this program," said Iain McCready, CEO of NeoMedia. "They understand the consumer desire for convenience and mobile barcode scanning is a new way to provide a simple but compelling consumer experience via the mobile phone. NeoMedia makes sure those experiences are secure, fast and reliable. The NeoReader scanning application helps partners like Papa John's deliver an easy and accessible mobile internet experience to their customers."
