Es wird ja gebohrt, nur hast Du eine Vorstellung von dem, wie kompliziert eine Entlastungsbohrung in der Tiefe ist und wie genau die sein muss? Denke, da kann jeder "Krisenmanager" nur verlieren.
Übrigens gab es doch selbst von BP schon einen Zeithorizont bis Ende August, bis die Entlastungsbohrung wirksam würde.

In a prepared statement issued late Friday after a week of hearings on the disaster, ANADARKO Chairman and Chief Executive Jim HACKET declared that the tragedy was a preventable one and “the direct result of BP’s reckless decisions and actions.”

“Frankly, we are shocked by the publicly available information that has been disclosed in recent investigations and during this week’s testimony that, among other things, indicates BP operated unsafely and failed to monitor and react to several critical warning signs during the drilling of the MACONDO well,” said HACKET.

The Woodlands-based ANADARKO (NYSE: APC) holds a 25 percent stake in the MACONDO well where the Deepwater Horizon exploded.

HACKETT went on to describe BP’s behavior as likely representing “gross negligence or willful misconduct,” noting that it would affect the obligations of the parties under the operating agreement.

The Save the Gulf website allows users to sign up for free and browse blog posts and news articles, comment on message boards, launch action groups and donate to clean up efforts. The center also features live video stream of beaches near the spill and of the underwater pipe leaking oil.

So far Save the Gulf site has raised about $3,500.

Es sind da an der Unglück-Stelle ja MEHRERE Löcher, die derzeit sprudeln:

Eines dererselben schätze ich auf einen Durch-Messer von 25-30 Centimetern, ein anderes auf 10-15, vielleicht auch 15-20 Centimeter. - Eine dritte Austritt-Stelle erscheint mir eher wie ein Riss, dessen Länge schwer zu schätzen ist.

Bin selbst noch etwas Rat-los über die Masse derer Daten, die wir längst schon hätten haben müssen, aber derzeit noch nicht haben. - Habe mich jeden Falles entschlossen, an der Sache dran zu bleiben...

BP enlists Costner to fight spill

"Hollywood star Kevin COSTNER and BP have announced plans to use an invention the actor says will accelerate the clean-up of gushing oil in the Gulf of MEXICO. "I didn't come here to save the day. I have come to participate," COSTNER said.

BP chief operating officer Doug SUTTLES says the company has purchased 32 centrifugal oil-water separator machines from COSTNER's company Ocean THERAPY Solutions. "This is real technology with real science behind it," said Mr SUTTLES, a mechanical engineer.

Used in conjunction with other oil spill collection operations, COSTNER's V-20 technology will eventually help BP process up to 128,000 barrels of oily water daily from Gulf waters and polluted shorelines, Mr SUTTLES said.

Three of the 4,500-pound machines were displayed aboard a barge at a Port FOURCHON shipyard before their deployment to the heart of the spill at the site of the sunken Deepwater Horizon drilling rig off the LOUISIANA coast.

More of the filters will be deployed along 193 kilometres of the oil-scarred LOUISIANA shoreline over the next 60 days, according to Ocean officials.

COSTNER says the machines can separate oil and water at a rate of 200 gallons (757 litres) per minute - achieving 99 per cent purity levels for both liquids - without the use of chemical or biologic agents.

By comparison, traditional oil skimming operations can collect only 20 per cent of the crude and 80 per cent of the water, COSTNER said on June 9 in testimony before a US House Science and Technology Committee. The broken wellhead is leaking oil at a rate of up to 60,000 barrels daily, according to the latest government figures"...

Er hatte von Anfang an keine Chance gegen den ausgebufften Politprofi mit seiner PR-Strategie, BP die Schuld in die Schuhe zu schieben. Obama kämpft ums Überleben in dieser Sache, da ist ihm das Schicksal Hayward egal.

Die Motivation des Weißen Hauses in dieser Sache liegt absolut auf der Hand: Hayward soll geopfert werden, um Obama den Kopf zu retten. An der Rethorik des Weißen Hauses - auch gestern wieder in der lächerlichen Segelaffäre - erkennt man, dass dieser Schachzug von echten PR-Profis geplant und durchgezogen wurde.

Ansonsten wird nach einer Schamfrist von einigen Monaten ab August gerechnet wieder munter weitergebohrt werden im Golf. Die strategischen Interessen der USA lassen nichts anderes zu.  

Es hat bislang kein Bauern-Opfer gegeben, das ja rein begrifflich dadurch gekennzeichnet ist, dass eine hoch-gestellte Person ein Mitglied des EIGENEN Berittes feuert, um von eigenem Fehl-Verhalten abzulenken.

WEDER hat der sich FEHL-verhaltene Barack OBAMA bislang ein Bauern-Opfer durchziehen können, NOCH der sich FEHL-verhaltene Tony HAYWARD, weshalb der Sinn des obigen Beitrages #991 ganz sicherlich der näheren Erläuterung bedarf...

...Sündenbock nennen. Es geht hier um hohe Politik. Das Volk will Köpfe rollen sehen, und für Obama ist es da das Leichteste, mittels PR-Maschine Hayward die Schuld am schlechten Krisenmanagement in die Schuhe zu schieben.

Hayward steht in der Nahrungskette definitiv unter dem US-Präsidenten. So muss er sich devot verhalten, schließlich fördert BP 10% seines Öls im Golf. Und das soll schließlich so bleiben. Also ist er klug beraten, diese Komödie mitzuspielen.

'Times': BP will 50 Milliarden US-Dollar eintreiben

LONDON (dpa-AFX) - Der britische Energiekonzern BP (Profil) will sich einem Zeitungsbericht zufolge stärker für die explodierenden Kosten der Ölpest im Golf von Mexiko wappnen. Der Konzern will laut "Sunday Times" 50 Milliarden US-Dollar (40 Mrd Euro) eintreiben. Direktoren des Konzerns hätten dem Plan zugestimmt, um ausreichend Barreserven für mögliche Schadensforderungen zur Verfügung zu haben.

Die Summe setzt sich dem Bericht zufolge aus drei Posten zusammen. Ein Verkauf von Anleihen soll 10 Milliarden Dollar in die Kassen spülen. Der Konzern will außerdem Darlehen in Höhe von 20 Milliarden Dollar aufnehmen. Durch den Verkauf von Vermögenswerten in den kommenden zwei Jahren sollen weitere 20 Milliarden Dollar eingenommen werden.

BP KOMMENTIERT NICHT

Der Ölmulti wollte den Bericht nicht kommentieren. Er hatte bislang immer wieder gesagt, der Konzern sei finanziell stark genug. Aufsichtsratschef Carl-Henric Svanberg verwies mehrfach darauf, dass die Firma "einen außergewöhnlich soliden Kassenstand" benötige.

BP hatte bereits der Zahlung von 20 Milliarden Dollar in einen Treuhandfonds für die Opfer der Ölpest zugestimmt. Analysten warnten jedoch davor, dass die Kosten der Umweltkatastrophe am Ende auf bis zu 100 Milliarden Dollar anschwellen könnten.

Der Börsenwert des Energieunternehmen istt seit Beginn der Ölpest vor knapp neun Wochen um mehr als 40 Prozent geschrumpft. Die Ratingagenturen Fitch und Moody's stuften die Kreditwürdigkeit herab. Die Dividendenzahlungen an die Aktionäre wurden für dieses Jahr gestrichen./dö/DP/he

"Embattled BP is to cut costs by $14bn (£9.5bn) in six months as part of a radical plan to sustain profitability in the wake of the explosion at its Deepwater Horizon oil rig that has led to the worst spill in US history.

Well-placed City sources say that BP is planning to sell its remaining NORTH Sea interests as well as stakes in dozens of exploration and production projects where it does not exercise overall control. The board will also consider whether to sell its 1.4% stake in Rosneft, RUSSIA's largest oil company, which it acquired at the time of Rosneft's 2006 flotation for $1bn.

But there is no question of BP selling out of its RUSSIAN joint venture with TNK, as that operation accounts for 25% of its worldwide resources and around 10% of profits.

BP's BRITISH and EUROPEAN assets account for little more than 4% of its global portfolio and several projects in the NORTH Sea are being wound down as supplies become exhausted. But a SALE of what is LEFT would symbolise a historic RETREAT"...

Dem Bericht zufolge will BP die Summe von 50 Milliarden Dollar auf drei Arten zusammenbekommen:


Ein Verkauf von Anleihen soll 10 Milliarden Dollar in die Kassen spülen. Die Papiere sollen schon in der kommenden Woche auf den Markt gebracht werden.

Außerdem will der Konzern an den Kreditmärkten Darlehen in Höhe von 20 Milliarden Dollar aufnehmen.

Weitere 20 Milliarden Dollar sollen durch den Verkauf von Vermögenswerten in den kommenden zwei Jahren eingenommen werden. Mit anderen Worten: Der Konzern will sein Tafelsilber verscherbeln.
