Maxpoint, which develops marketing software to drive local, in-store sales, reported $106.5 million for 2014, compared to $66.1 million in 2013 and $35.1 million in 2012.
But costs, too, are increasing, the new numbers show.
The cost of that revenue, including traffic acquisition, was $52.6 million in 2014, $31.6 million in 2013 and $19.5 million in 2012. Total operating expenses increased from $22.4 million in 2012 to $64.4 million at the end of 2014.

Gemäß Compete sind die monthly Unique Visitors im März weiter zurückgegangen auf nur noch 3,6 Millionen. Local corp muss schon sehr gute Revenues per visitor erreicht haben um ein gutes/passables 1. Quartal geschafft zu haben. Ich bin gespannt auf die Zahlen.

Dass diese Compete-Zahlen nicht unproblematisch waren, war damals also schon klar - pbwohl mir das auch erst so richtig bewusst wurde, als einmal mehr als 10% der Klicks aus Pakistan kamen.
Die abgesetzten Vorstände haben jetzt im Rückblick zu wenig dagegen unternommen - beim abgesetzten COO Sawtell gehen meine Vermutungen sogar noch weiter.
Und worauf ich eigentlich hinauswollte: Im Anschluss an diesen Text werden vier Unternpunkte genannt, von denen die folgenden ersten beiden folgende Zahlen enthalten:
- Audience: 200 million consumers annually
- Reach: 30 billion impressions annually
Ergänzt werden diese beiden quantitativen Punkte durch zwei weitere nicht-quantitative punkte:

I am sure, the sale of the five patents and an additional agreemet that Local Corp can use this patents for free makes sense, because bigger companiies than Local Corp can monetize th patents a lot better.

Nicht enthalten ist in den von Compete ermittelten Zahlen die User-Zahl des Publisher Networks, wo Local Corp für Publisher, z.B. die Washington Post als bekanntestes Mitglied des Networks, Directories betreibt und sich die Erlöse mit den Publishern teilt - übrigens ein sehr viel lukrativeres Geschäft als Owned und Operated, wo nur der Organic Traffic über die Flagship-Seite local.com das "dicke" Geld bringt. Und fast alle Neuerungen, die nicht völlige neue Bereiche wie Programmtic Marketing oder nQuery schufen, zielen auf den Publisher-Bereich, wo man versucht den Geschäftsumfang über den reinen Directory-Betrieb hinaus auszuweiten. Abschließend muss aber auch ausgeführt werden, warum Compete diese Zahlen nicht Local Corp zuordnet: Die Zahlen werden beim Publisherr mitgezählt, also z.B. der Washington Post zugerechnet, obwohl sich die die Erlöse mit Local Corp teilt.
Und so ist es auch der Zählweise beim neu entstandenen Bereich nQuery: Dort werden die User bei den Carriers, Hotels usw, für die Local Corp die gehosteten Lösungen betreibt, gezählt.
Überhaupt nicht in diese Kategorien einordnen lässt sich der zweite neue Bereich des Automatic Marketings und wohl auch Pay Per Call und andere Tätigkeiten, bei denen Lösungen über Marktplätze laufen.

Local ad spending reached $137.9 billion in 2014, and will see a slight boost to $139.4 billion in 2015. We talked with BIA/Kelsey Chief Economist and SVP Mark Fratrik about the new research (interview below).
Every year, BIA/Kelsey issues a five-year forecast on local spending in the fall, and then updates it in the following spring based on full year reporting, current trends and anticipated events.
This year's update shows more spending than originally forecast in 2014, and modest increases in our 2015 given several factors, including a rapid rise in mobile spending.

Local Corporation Launches Mobile Pay-Per-Call Lead Generation Network
Pay-Per-Call Ad Spending Projected to Reach $8.1 Billion by 2018
IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 5, 2013-- Local Corporation (NASDAQ: LOCM), a leading online local media company, today announced that it has launched a mobile pay-per-call lead generation network.
The new network connects online and on-the-go consumers searching for local businesses and services in specific categories with relevant advertisers who provide those services via pay-per-call ads. Based on the valuable pay-per-call ad model, the network provides advertisers with a new channel to generate quality consumer leads in local markets and convert them to customers via mobile.
The network Generales leads for top auto insurance, home security and home service providers. The company plans to expand the network to additional verticals, including education and consumer finance.
A recent forecast commissioned by Local Corporation and conducted by Borrell Associates, estimates that online pay-per-call ad spending will grow from $1.7 billion in 2013 to $8.1 billion by 2018. The forecast also estimates that use of pay-per-call advertising among U.S. businesses that market online is projected to more than double by 2018.

Logischerweise wird bei dieser Vorgehensweise

Bei den Owned & Operated-Seiten, wird sich das überwiegend im Operated-Bereich niederschlagen, wo Local Corp nur noch mit den Vertical auftreten wird, was dann auch nicht mehr bei local.com gezählt wird, sondern unter dem Internet-Seiten-Namen des Verticals.
Logischerweise gehen dann auch mit dem Auftreten der Verticals die Zählungen von Compete für local.com massiv zurück und Local Corp berichet nachwievor von hohen Monthly-Uniique-Visitors-Zahlen, weil Local Corp auch die Klicks auf die Verticals mitzählt, die im Operated-Bereich die Regel sein dürften.
