Das denkt ihr jetzt. Wenn es soweit käme, würdet ihr ganz anders denken.
Aber keine Angst, es wird wahrscheinlich nicht mal eine angemessene Korrektur.

OPEC to Cut Production by 1 Million Barrels of Oil Per Day, the Cartel's President Says

ABUJA, Nigeria (AP) -- OPEC has agreed to trim global oil production by 1 million barrels a day to boost prices, and its members were discussing how to share the cut, the cartel's president said Wednesday.

Oil prices rose after his comments.

"The cut itself is agreed," said Nigerian oil minister and OPEC president Edmund Daukoru.

Daukoru told reporters after a Cabinet meeting in the Nigerian capital that the cuts would begin at the end of the month and said members of the producing cartel were "nearing consensus" on how to share the cuts.

Daukoru's comments followed a slew of reports attributed to anonymous sources from member countries who said the cartel plans to trim its daily production by 1 million barrels.

Daukoru had said last week that OPEC was considering holding an emergency meeting before its scheduled Dec. 14 conference to discuss what to do about falling prices.

Oil prices have fallen sharply in recent weeks from their mid-July high of $78.40 on the New York Mercantile Exchange. By Wednesday afternoon in Europe, light, sweet crude for November delivery was at $58.70 a barrel, up slightly from the opening price.

Sony Ericsson sees handset prices declining in Q4
Thursday October 12, 4:14 am ET

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - Sony Ericsson, the world's fourth-largest mobile phone maker, said on Thursday that average selling prices (ASPs) of its phones would decline somewhat in the fourth quarter from 147 euros in the third quarter.

"We see some decline in ASPs after an exceptionally strong third quarter," Miles Flint, president of the joint venture between Sweden's Ericsson (Stockholm:ERICB.ST - News) and Japan's Sony Corp. (Tokyo:6758.T - News), said in a conference call after the company published results on Wednesday.

Average selling prices are a closely watched indicator which can affect profitability, as lower-priced phones often carry lower profit margins.

Fourth-quarter sales include more lower-priced phones which are given as presents during the end-of-year holidays, Flint said.

Sony Ericsson beat expectations with third-quarter pretax earnings of 433 million euros ($543.4 million), twice as much as analysts had expected.

With sales of 19.8 million phones in the third quarter, 43 percent more than the year-ago quarter, Flint said his five-year-old company had grown roughly twice the rate of the market and gained a percentage point of market share. It believes it now has around 8 percent of the global market.

Flint also said the overall market for third generation (3G) WCDMA phones would grow to about 100 million units this year, which was slightly less than it had expected due to delays in the introduction of fast third generation networks in China.

The total market, including the GSM and CDMA standards, is expected to grow to more than 950 million units this year, according to Sony Ericsson and market analysts.

"Our market share in 3G phones is quite a bit higher than it is in (second-generation) GSM generally," he said.

nicht einen Kursverfall zu beschleunigen.

By Hideyuki Sano

TOKYO, Oct 12 (Reuters) - The slowest growth in Japan's money supply in 13 years is most likely *****the result of a shift of funds from cash to other assets, not a sign the economy is losing momentum, economists said on Thursday*****.

Japan's M1 money supply in September, covering cash and call deposits, grew 1.5 percent from a year earlier, the smallest increase since 1993, when the country's economy had been deeply troubled by the bursting of asset price bubbles.

A more widely watched measure of money supply -- M2 plus certificates of deposit (CDs) -- was up 0.6 percent in September, but the Bank of Japan revised down the August increase to 0.4 percent, another 13-year low, from an earlier reading of 0.5 percent.

But few economists are concerned about slow money growth. Many say the trend probably reflects a move from cash and deposits into other financial assets, such as bonds and investment trusts, which are not included in money supply.

The year-on-year rise in M1, the narrowest gauge of money supply, has been dwindling constantly since April, when it was up 5.1 percent, just after the BOJ in March ended its five-year-old super-easy policy of flooding the banking system with cash.

That policy, dubbed "quantitative easing", kept short-term interest rates around zero. It also reduced interest rates on term deposits to levels on a par with those on call deposits, prompting many savers to pile up their funds in call deposits.

That is now being unwound, especially after the BOJ raised rates to 0.25 percent from zero in July, its first rate hike in six years.

"Term deposits are now offering meaningful interest, so funds that had once concentrated in M1 are now moving out to other assets," said Hideo Kumano, a senior economist at Dai-ichi Life Research Institute.   Continued...

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The stock options scandal is reaching higher into the executive suites of corporate America, and the pace of high-profile departures is speeding up.

Corporate governance watchers predict more companies and top executives will get caught up in the saga as regulators and boards of directors delve deeper into how options were granted.

On Wednesday alone, McAfee Inc. (MFE.N: Quote, Profile, Research), a security software supplier, said that both its chief executive and president were leaving amid accounting discrepancies in its stock options grants, while technology news and review company CNET Networks Inc. (CNET.O: Quote, Profile, Research) said its chairman and chief executive had resigned following an options probe.

Earlier this week, Monster Worldwide Inc. (MNST.O: Quote, Profile, Research) said its founder stepped down as chairman and CEO amid a review of its options practices.

Executives at other big companies could find their jobs in jeopardy as their boards wrap up reviews of options practices, said Richard Steinberg, founder and principal of Steinberg Governance Advisors Inc., an adviser to boards and executives on governance matters.

"I do expect there to be more fallout," he said. "The fallout will come as companies themselves and their boards and the SEC and others look further into specific circumstances" of options grants, he said.

Also on Wednesday, Minnesota officials said they were investigating UnitedHealth Group Inc. (UNH.N: Quote, Profile, Research) to see if the health insurer accelerated stock options without proper disclosure -- widening a probe they and federal authorities were already conducting of possible backdating of options.

And on Tuesday, home goods retailer Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. (BBY.O: Quote, Profile, Research) said it expects to take an $8 million charge related to the review of stock option grants to employeees.   Continued...
