"Oilex’s fishing disappointment a boon for the longerterm prognosis
The Company has disclosed that the interpretation of data from the Cambay-76H well has been encouraging and results are consistent with the Company's pre-fracture stimulation reservoir modelling.
In a disappointing positive, however, Cambay-76H well clean-up operations and production testing have been significantly delayed due to the stuck coiled tubing and milling tool and subsequent well control operations, caused by intermittent flows of hydrocarbons and fracture stimulation fluids to surface, which bodes well for the declaration of commerciality in the future."
"India
Companies including Reliance Industries Limited (E&P), RNRL, have expressed interest in exploring for shale gas in India. Reliance Industries paid a reported US$1.7 billion for a 40% share in Atlas Energy's leasehold in the Marcellus shale gas play in the eastern US.[46] A complication to shale gas in India is that the government-issued leases for conventional petroleum exploration do not include unconventional sources such as shale gas.[47]
In August 2010, a delegation including the director-general of hydrocarbons and officials of the oil ministry is scheduled to meet in Washington with the US Geological Survey to discuss help in identifying and exploiting shale-gas resources in India. Basins of preliminary interest identified by Indian geologists are the Cambay Basin in Gujarat, the Assam-Arakan basin in northeast India, and the Gondwana Basin in central India.[48]
During US President Obama's visit to India in November 2010, India and US decided to cooperate in the fields of clean-tech and shale gas. "We agreed to deepen our co-operation in pursuit of clean energy technologies, including the creation of a new clean energy research centre here in India, and continuing our joint research into solar, biofuels, shale gas and building efficiency," Obama said.[49] In January 2011,India's biggest energy explorer Oil & Natural Gas Corporation ONGC has discovered the country's first shale gas reserve at Durgapur in Burdwan district of West Bengal. The gas reserve spread over 12,000 square km in the Durgapur-Ranigunj area – is the world's third shale gas find.[50] As per the initial studies, many shale sequences in well explored basins are found to be promising like Damodar, Cambay, and Krishna Godavari and Cauvery basins. The potentiality of these basins was also vetted by international experts.[51]"

I have been invested here for a few years and have spent a lot of time reading reports and RNS announcements from the company. I have an engineering background and have indirectly been involved with the oil industry from time to time.
This company can be very frustrating and I was originally attracted by the potential of the Timor sea licence although that has been less than succesful.
However Oilex did have the fore sight to realise that the tight gas zones that have been encountered in many vertical wells within the cambay field could be unlocked using the newly developed fracing techniques from North america.
The Cambay 76H well is drilled in the Y zone this is one of 2 shallower zones and it is the thickest of the 2.
(see slide 9)
http://www.oilex.com.au/files/...r%20Presentation%20August%202011.pdf
Netherland Sewel has conducted an initial assesment of the reservoir and has identified six zones the X and Y shallower zones and also four deeper zones. The purpose of the 76H well is to demonstrate that these reserves can be extracted at commercial rates.
If it works and so far so good then the oil and gas in place volumes are simply mind blowing.
X and Y are estimated to hold 1.3 trillion cubic feet of gas and 1.6 billion barrels of oil that is discovered volumes.
The four deeper zones are estimated to hold 12.6 trillion cubic feet of gas and 11.5 billion barrels of oil however these zones have not been drilled so these are classed as undiscovered.
If only a small percentage of these reserves ever gets extracted then Oilex will be massive.

Thats why this well is so important and is worth the wait.

"Australia's Oilex on Monday said it has made huge natural gas discovery in Gujarat that may hold over 1.5 Trillion cubic feet of recoverable reserves. Industry estimates put the total resource base or inplace reserves in the Cambay basin discoveries near the town of Khambat, 160-km south of Ahmedabad [ Images ], at between 20-30 Trillion cubic feet, almost equivalent to inplace reserves of Reliance Industries' [ Get Quote ] eastern offshore KG-D6 fields."

As soon as it has demonstrated flow rates from the Cambay-76-
H well, Oilex will be in a position to book gas and oil reserves at
its Gujarat project in India. This significant event will open the
way for a re-rating of the company and rapid field development
through 2013 and beyond.
Oilex will require fresh capital support by mid 2012 if it is to
rapidly progress development plans in India. Sale of one of its
other assets could assist this process. The stock appears
cheap in comparison with a risked value of $202 million for
the upper zones alone and total risked value of $407 million.

geben!

Cambay-76H Well operations updaTE
Further to the announcement of 20 February 2012, Oilex Ltd ("Oilex" ASX: OEX, AIM: OEX) provides the following update on operations at the Cambay-76H horizontal well in the Cambay Field, onshore Gujarat, India.
Operations to retrieve the stuck milling assembly and coiled tubing have been successfully concluded with the entire assembly now having been recovered at surface.
The well is currently being prepared for resumption of milling of the seven remaining fracture stimulation stages and when this operation is completed, production tubing will be run and the well will be flowed to surface for cleanup and production testing.

Oilex (OEX LN, 16.25p, ▲ 0.78%) - Provides an update on the Cambay-76H horizontal well, in the Cambay Field, India: The company reported that operations to retrieve the stuck milling assembly and coiled tubing have been successfully concluded on the 76H horizontal well. The well will be prepared for production tubing and production testing after the completion of milling of the seven remaining fracture stimulation stages. Cambay field is spread across 161km2 and contains untapped tight oil and gas reservoirs across the block. Oilex is the operator of the block with 50% interest. Consortium has identified six potential Eocene reservoirs in the block, named X, Y, Z, 180-200, 200-300 and 300-400. The Netherland Sewell and Associates ('NSA') estimates gross 2C resources of 83mm bbl of condensate and 495bcf of gas respectively and unrisked prospective resources of 140mm bbl condensate and 935bcf gas. We view today's update as a step further towards the monetization of the block resources.
1,56 $/sh Cambay X,Y unrisked, Rest risked
3,46 $/sh Cambay X,Y,Z unrisked, Rest risked
"The company trades with a market capitalisation of less than $1 per barrel of oil equivalent in Contingent Resources and just 27cents per barrel of oil equivalent in Contingent plus Prospective Resources."

Vielleicht kommt dadurch jetzt so langsam meine Einstiegsgelegenheit näher. ;-)
Proactiveinvestors schreibt heute:
Oilex (LON:OEX) - The Company is progressing at a decent pace with the 76-H horizontal well clean-up operations to prepare for the flow test. Success of this well is very important as the Company has invested significant time and resources. The reserves and resource certification report will be completed after results from the Cambay-76H well production test. In this news:
• Milling and clean out of the first six fracture stimulation stages to a depth of 2,581 metres measured depth has been completed.
• Of the two remaining stages, one has been partially opened where a significant flow of fracture stimulation sand was encountered indicating the existence of a higher pressure environment.
• As a result the company has decided to open the final stage as the well is flowed back during the clean-up phase. Oilex has 45% operating interest.
