Neomedia 2004
TUESDAY , JANUARY 13, 2004 12:07 PM
FT. MYERS, Fla., and LONDON , Jan 13, 2004 (PRIMEZONE via COMTEX) -- NeoMedia Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB:NEOM), a developer of software and patented technologies which link products, print, and physical objects directly to targeted online data, and iCoupon Ltd., a London-based innovator in electronic coupons delivered via camera cell phones, today announced their intent to enter a collaborative agreement in Europe.
In announcing its intent, iCoupon will work with Big Gig Strategies of London, which is spearheading the launch of PaperClick(tm) and PaperClick for Nokia(r) Camera Cell Phones(tm) in Europe.
iCoupon and its "m-bar-go" product are market leaders in mobile bar code technology which links with customer relationship management (CRM) campaigns and retail electronic point-of-sale (EPOS) systems, offering brand owners a secure, measurable, and traceable alternative to conventional paper coupons.
"The ability to create and implement a state-of-the-art electronic couponing program with our patented PaperClick technology in collaboration with iCoupon is very exciting," said Charles T. Jensen, president, COO and acting CEO of NeoMedia.
"Product brand managers have long known that couponing works," he said. "Now, innovators like iCoupon have brought the art of couponing into the 21st Century, creating and delivering coupons electronically to Web-enabled camera cell phones, to be scanned at point-of-sale for instant redemption and discounts."
Quick and Easy Electronic Coupon Delivery and Redemption
"With `m-bar-go', coupon redemption is quick and easy, and can reach the entire mobile market," said Marc Lewis, CEO and founder of iCoupon. "Once a coupon is delivered electronically to the camera phone's screen, the consumer need only bring the phone to the retailer, where the coupon will be scanned at the point-of-purchase through a bar code reader.
"iCoupon designed our m-bar-go technology to seamlessly integrate with the EPOS infrastructure in use today, and require very little training of staff," he said. "iCoupon believes m-bar-go is an ideal addition to the PaperClick technology platform developed and patented by NeoMedia."
