U.S. gov't to lower terror alert for fin'l institutions By Carla Mozee
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS.MW) -- The U.S. government said Wednesday it will lower the terror alert status to yellow from orange for financial institutions located in New York, New Jersey and Washington, D.C.

Starbucks Q4 earnings rise 48.5% (SBUX) By Jennifer Waters
CHICAGO (CBS.MW) -- Starbucks Corp. said earnings for the fourth fiscal quarter vaulted 48.5 percent to $103.3 million, or 25 cents a share, from $69.5 million, or 17 cents a share. Total sales climbed to $1.45 billion from $1.08 billion a year ago. The results were in line with analysts' average expectations, as reported to Thomson First Call. However, Starbucks' fiscal 2005 outlook for earnings in a range of $1.12 to $1.15 a share is below the First Call estimate of $1.16 a share. Starbucks shares ended the session at $55.29, up 47 cents, ahead of the news.
