auch in PNG bei den im Bergbaugebiet wohnenden Menschen immer beliebter. Die Vorteile sind so groß, dass über die Landowner der Ok Tedi Mine geschrieben wird :  “They do not want to think, believe or even accept the fact that the mine will close one day.”
Natürlich verdienen die Landowner der Ok Tedi Mine wegen des hohen Kupferpreises im Moment besonders viel, so dass diese Haltung nachvollziehbar ist.
Für Bougainville heißt das, wenn man Arbeitsplätze, Brücken, Schulen, Krankenhäuser,... Wohlstand für ALLE will, muß schnell gehandelt werden. Alles das ist ja hier schon ausführlich angesprochen worden.

Die einzelnen Personen und Gruppen, die gegen den Bergbau sind, sollten sich jetzt ernsthaft fragen, ob sie gute Demokraten sind, die den Wunsch der Menschen nach Glück und Wohlstand unterstützen.

OTML landowners want mine to go on

Mt Fubilan Resource Owners Association (MFROA), the umbrella group of Ok Tedi Mine’s landowners, want the giant open cut gold and copper mine to remain in operation.
The landowners said the mine continued to deliver millions of kina in benefits which had been successfully invested in certain businesses.
“They do not want to think, believe or even accept the fact that the mine will close one day,” MFROA executive officer Toby Martyns Yakumani said last Saturday.
The Ok Tedi landowners totalling about 4000 from 12 villages in the OTML’s mining lease area receive millions of kina annually through the 2.5 per cent equity and 19.5 per cent royalty paid to them by the mine.
Under the MROA group, the landowners own businesses and have invested in properties in the Tabubil township and in Port Moresby and abroad.
Last year, they bought two hotels in Sydney and Brisbane and have a 50-50 joint venture with SVS in the Star Mountains Supermarket at Tabubil.
Mr Yakumani said there is a proposal suggesting a three year partnership with SVS to own 40 per cent of its shareholding in all SVS supermarkets around the country.
MROA also owns Star Mountains Clothing, Star Mountains Investment Holdings, Star HR, Azobelle Electrical, Star Mountains Furniture, Construction and Catering companies.
The Weigh Inn Hotel in Port Moresby is also owned by the Ok Tedi Min landowners, a Twin Otter called Mountain Prince leased to Airline PNG.
Mr Yakumani said that there was a Lamin trust account managed by the Department of Treasury to take care of environmental damages caused by the Ok Tedi mine.

Elected representatives from South and Central Bougainville feature prominently among the 13 ministerial appointments announced by the new President of the autonomous Papua New Guinea province.

John Momis, who was sworn in as President earlier this month following last month’s poll, has allocated five ministries to North Bougainville, four to Central Bougainville and three went to South Bougainville.

A Post Courier journalist, Gorethy Kenneth, says while Mr Momis won most of his vote in the north, he recognises a need to address certain imbalances in the rest of Bougainville.

“(Peace and) Reconciliation was rightfully given to the south, and Veteran’s Affairs to central; even the Natural resources portfolio, which covers mining, went to a person from Iori village or Iori constituency, which covers the mining area.”
Meanwhile, Rose Pihei, the female member for South Bougainville, was appointed Minister for Community, Women and Youth.

The President will look after Inter Government Affairs and Autonomy Implementation.

B’ville far from independence

HE prospect of an early independence for Bougainville is a worry for newly elected ministers of the second House of Representatives and authorities engaged to work on it.
In Buka this week, 40 members of the House have been undergoing an induction course conducted by the Ombudsman Commission of PNG, the New South Wales Parliament, the administration, the principal legal office, the police, donors and the church leaders.
Principal legal officer for the Bougainville Administration Chris Siriosi in his presentations covering the Bougainville peace agreement, constitution, the legal and constitutional structures of ABG, referendum on independence and other essential aspects of the autonomy arrangements bluntly reminded the members that Bougainville was far from fiscal self-reliance.
Bougainville does not have the financial capacity to sustain itself including until independence. The National Government budget allocation for Bougainville is an estimated K50 million a year. Bougainville generates K5 million for internal revenue a year. With only 10 per cent of this allocated budget compared to the funding allocation by the National Government, Bougainville seriously needs to work harder on its economy before independence. Members were also reminded that Bougainville was also surviving on donor funding from Australia, New Zealand, European Union and other non-government organizations operating in the region.
Public Service Minister, also in charge of Police, CIS and Law and Justice, Leo Hannett also said that the Bougainville economy was not steady to sustain the region, especially when the internal revenue of the region was only K5 million a year.
Although several other members raised concerns that for over 16 years, Bougainville sustained the economy of Papua New Guinea with the Bougainville copper mine tax contribution of K300 million a year, they asked if the National Government could compensate the region for those years, especially in terms of major impact projects for the region.
Several Bougainville Govern-ment members told the Post-Courier that the answer to the economy of Bougainville would be re-opening of the Bougainville copper mine and also heavy projects in agriculture and marine respurces.

oder kann mir Jemand erklären, warum die ADR Aktionäre nicht einfach die Originalaktien für ihre registrierten ADR Stücke bekamen ?  

Nach  einem Gespräch, das ich gestern mit BOC geführt habe, schätze ich die Lage so ein:

BOC: Ready to go. Alles wartet auf den Startschuss; ausführliche Machbarkeitsstudie macht erst Sinn, wenn Zugang zur Mine möglich ist

Nächste Hürde: Landowner-Wahlen, ansonsten keine BCA-Verhandlungen

Newsflow: Einladungen zu BCA-Verhandlungen würde ich zumindest kurzfristig nicht erwarten, zuvor sind die Landowner-Wahlen notwendig.

Aber: Das Interview von Temu werte ich so, dass zumindest PNG mit öffentlichen Pro-Panguna und Pro-BOC Statements beginnt, die Öffentlichkeit für eine Wiedereröffnung mit BOC zu begeistern bzw. vorzubereiten. Ich glaube solche Statements können wir in naher Zukunft noch öfters erwarten. Wenn es eine solcher Äußerungen schafft, von den Medien in eine Überschrift „Panguna vor Wiedereröffnung“ übersetzt zu werden, dann könnte das nicht nur in den australischen Medien Niederschlag finden, sondern den Weg in die internationale Presse schaffen – mit hoffentlich entsprechenden Folgen für den Kurs.

Wie gesagt, alles meine persönliche Meinung und vorbehaltlich, dass ich am Telefon nicht etwas falsch oder missverstanden habe.

dann könnte ja auch Meister Axel hier endlich ´mal zugeben, dass die ganzen Verschwörungstheorien wohl nicht zutreffend waren,

schon vor langer Zeit hatte ich hier darauf hingewiesen, dass die ESBC-Führung offensichtlich ADR-Emmitenten mit Vertriebspartnern verwechselt hat, und buchungstechnisch nicht ganz auf der Höhe war,
und habe dafür eine Menge Prügel eingesteckt, kein Problem,

aber das ist halt hier so, wenn man die ESBC kritisiert,

Da die BOC Bewertung in 3826 gelöscht wurde, weil sie "nicht belegt" sei, hier noch einmal ausführlicher auf Wunsch von Zwergnase :

BOC ist eine 53.85% Tochter der Firma Rio Tinto, dem weltgrößter Minenkonzern. Die nachgewiesenen Rohstoffreserven nach Mitteilung der Firma entsprechen für eins der 8 Fördergebiete etwa 100 $ pro Aktie.

Die Kupferreserven gehören damit zu den größten der Welt.
Die 7 Nachbarparzellen sind nur teilweise exploriert und in diesen Zahlen noch nicht enthalten. Auch nicht enthalten sind mögliche Reserven in tieferen Schichten, da die im Tagebau abbaubaren Erze bereits seinerzeit die größte Tagebaumine der Welt ermöglichte.
Die Börsenbewertung der Peer Group beträgt ca. 10 - 20 Euro in Bezug auf die BOC Aktie, also mehrere 1000% über dem jetzigen Kurs und bei den jetzigen Rohstoffpreisen.
Diese hohen Gewinne für alle Stakeholder - Regierung, Menschen und Aktionäre - hängen davon ab, die Gegner des Bergbaus davon zu überzeugen, daß Bergbau in Bougainville für die Menschen in Bougainville mehr Wohlstand bedeutet, da der jetzige Börsenkurs aus der mehr als 20 jährigen Schließung der Mine resultiert.

Hätte der Moderator "Zwergnase" sich die Mühe gemacht, die vorgehenden Postings zu lesen, wüßte er das.
Es ist von mir nicht zu erwarten, diese schon vorher von anderen geposteten Daten jedesmal zu wiederholen.  

B’ville state of economy riles leaders

BOUGAINVILLE leaders Dr Alexis Sarei and Leo Hannett erupted on Friday afternoon at the presentation of the economy of Bougainville 2010 and beyond.
The presentation was done by the Bougainville Commerce and Trade Industry for the induction of the newly-elected MPs.
The presentation cited that Bougainville’s economy in 2002 had a GDP of K97 million, per capita income of K555, 60 per cent of income was from cocoa, 28 per cent from wages and salaries (mostly government), 9.5 per cent from copra and 2.5 per cent from marine products like bechedemer.
This was for the estimated population of 175,000 and that Bougainville was still struggling financially. But they also presented that the 2010 GDP was estimated to be K250 million with a per capita income of K1136 per year.
Mr Hannett, who is Public Service Minister and also in charge of Police, CIS and Law and Justice, said that 20 years ago, in his time, they were 10 times better than what it was now.
He said that certainly the ABG was not doing enough to substantiate the economy of Bougainville.
Dr Sarei supported Mr Hannett and said that Bougainville had so much resources like cocoa, copra, marine resources and vegetables but blamed the ABG for not coming up with better ideas and not pushing enough for the benefit of increasing the economy of Bougainville.
The Commerce and Trade office defended their programs, saying that they had major plans to boost the economy of Bougainville this year and beyond.

Leo hat ja nicht ganz unrecht, mit dem, was er da sagt..... Aber er weiß auch, dass mit marine products etc. allein, kein Blumentopf zu gewinnen ist. Jo, und dass es vor 20+ Jahren schon mal viel, viel besser mit den Finanzen stand, well, das Budget kann er alles wieder haben und noch viel, viel mehr.

A group of women from the Papua New Guinea province of Bougainville is in Wellington to discuss land issues.

The women will also look at the conflicts surrounding Bougainville’s matrilineal tenure systems.

The two-day conference organised by the Pacific Co-operation Foundation has attracted more than ten delegates from Bougainville, including Sister Loraine Garasu from the Nazareth Rehabilitation Centre and Helen Hakena of the Leitana Nehan Women’s Development Agency.

Lynette Baratai-Pokas from PNG’s Centre for Environmental Law and Community Rights, is also talking.

Discussions are focussing on land and resource utilisation and aim to identify the key contemporary challenges facing women accessing land in Bougainville as the province continues its recovery from the years of civil war.

ADR-Besitzer, die sich keine Originalaktien haben ausliefern lassen, erhalten pro ADR 0,39975 USD, das entspricht aktuell ca. 0,323 EUR bzw. 0,458 AUD.

Der Grossteil der in diesem Jahr umgesetzten 11.428.034 Stücke in AU erzielten einen Kurs von 0,49 AUD.

Zieht man davon die 5 US ct Tauschgebühren ab,welche auch bei einem VK trotzdem fällig werden so stimmt der Betrag.

Die Frage warum das ADR Programm just in dem Moment gecancelt wurde als eine Wiedereröffnung der Pangunamine immer wahrscheinlicher wird steht weiterhin im Raum.

Ich gehe davon aus dass die ADR Emittenten sich die 11 Mill. Stücke billig unter den Nagel gerissen haben.

Geht man davon aus dass es wie unter ASX Business Rule 19.5 (BOC Rule) demonstriert eine Short Position von über 40 Mill. BOC Aktien gibt/gab? welche aus auf dem Markt befindlichen Stücken nicht zu covern ist,so könnten diese 11 Mill Aktien in Zukunft weiter dazu dienen den Kurs zu "beeinflussen" bis es bei einer KE möglich würde diese Positionen zu covern.
