Western Potash Corp.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Western Potash Corp. (WPX:TSX) (AHE.F) (“the Company”) is pleased to announce that, further to its press release dated June 26, 2012, a Definitive Agreement with the City of Regina was signed on November 26th securing the long term, economical and reliable source of process water for the Milestone Potash Project (“the Project”). Under the agreement the Company will have access to 60,000 cubic metres per day of treated effluent for the first 6 years and 42,240 cubic metres for the remaining 39 years. This amount is sufficient to satisfy the requirements for the solution mining process during the entire life of the mine.
As part of the execution of the Agreement, Western paid the City of Regina a $500,000.00 Commitment Fee. Annual payments to the City of Regina will be worth more than $200 million throughout the Agreement’s term. The Company will fund the construction of the pipeline and associated infrastructure to deliver the effluent to the mine site located approximately 30km southeast of Regina. The diversion of effluent from southern Saskatchewan’s watershed will produce a net environmental benefit, while creating economic growth for the Province, making this partnership a true “win-win” for both parties.
“This mutually beneficial agreement is another step towards Regina’s vision of a sustainable community," said Regina Mayor Michael Fougere. "The City of Regina will be compensated for treating a waste product while helping facilitate economic growth in one of Saskatchewan’s key sectors – potash development. In addition, downstream negative effects such as increased algae will also be alleviated, making this is a prime example how creative thinking and partnerships can yield a more promising future for everyone.”
“Executing the Definitive Agreement with the City of Regina is a critical deliverable in progressing the Milestone Project,” says Western Potash Corp. President and CEO Patricio Varas. “Securing a long term, reliable water supply is a key component of the Feasibility Study and crucial to advancing the project on schedule.”
The Milestone Feasibility Study is now drawing to a close with a completion date set for late November 2012. In addition, Western Potash Corp. remains involved in ongoing negotiations with numerous parties, any of which could lead to equity and debt financings, joint ventures, takeovers or other types of merger transactions to advance the development of the Milestone project.

Feasibility approaches for Western Potash’s southern Saskatchewan Milestone project
by Greg Klein
If you compare the ramp-up period for a solution mine with a conventional mine, it’s staggering. From construction to production takes about three years. For a conventional mine, that can take up to nine years. Consider the capital costs. Consider the cash flow. The payback comes an awful lot sooner.

News: From well-informed circles to hear that the company K + S is considering taking over the potash explorer Western Potash. Takeover bid for the 400 million cad
All I can say nothing, of course. The way I've heard is probably the end of January to be adequately tested. These indications are not guarantees.
We all know that strikes K + S, when the opportunity offers cheaper gesture. That was at Potash One so and will also be so. If you then looked at the total area, which has a total of k + s then, then a price of 400 million is not much. A strategic masterpiece at the current low potash prices and western potash. Construction of the mine will not be immediate.

RCFL eyes bigger stake in Canadian potash project
written by zenzhcn on January 10, 2013 in Uncategorized with no comments
KOLKATA (miningweekly.com) – India’s Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers (RCFL) was considering increasing its investments and taking majority control in the proposed joint venture (JV) with Canada’s Western Potash to develop the $2.8-billion Milestone potash project, in Saskatchewan.
“A higher investment could be put on the table by RCFL to become the favored and majority partner of Western Potash in the Milestone project since the Canadian potash company had other suitors,” an official in the Indian Department of Chemicals and Fertilizers said.
“RCFL, in ongoing talks with Western Potash, has committed an investment of $1-billion. But this would make RCFL the junior partner in the JV. Western Potash has shown a willingness to part with a higher equity stake to foreign investors, and RCFL would follow this up, aiming to conclude a deal before current year-end,” the official said..

"The Saskatchewan Environmental Assessment Review Panel (technical reviewers) and MOE conclude that Western Potash has undertaken sufficient studies and provided adequate information about the proposed Project such that the EIS can be made available for public review."

All the regulatory hurdles have been cleared. There is no First Nation requirement to deal with. Water is guaranteed. The legwork has been done. At any point, another player can get involved and this stock will pop to at least a buck. Everyone talks about India and China, but I wouldn't be surprised to see an American company become involved. The Yanks import 90% of their potash needs.
