WA State Feed-in tariff scheme is announced

The Western Australian state government has announced its long-awaited Feed-In Tariff scheme. The scheme provides a subsidy to home owner including tenanted properties to embrace cleaner energy while also reducing the cost of their electricity bill.

"This is in addition to the price paid under the existing Renewable Energy Buyback Scheme, which will allow householders to receive a minimum of 47c/kWh." WA Energy Minister Peter Collier said. "The scheme will not require any changes in metering for existing system owners," he explained.

It applies to current system size under retailer buyback schemes, up to 5kW for Synergy customers and up to 10kW per phase for Horizon Power customers, with recipients receiving the net feed-in tariff payments for 10 years. A similar scheme for businesses is under study

The scheme will open for applications from July 1, with payments to be made from August 1.

Further information on the feed-in tariff scheme is available from the Office of Energy, Synergy, Synergy Fit FAQs and Horizon Power websites

WINNERS FROM EXPANDED TARGET

* The best direct exposure to renewable energy is wind companies such as Infigen Energy, the largest owner of wind power in Australia, said analysts.
* Other companies with exposure to wind projects include Transfield Services Infrastructure, Viridis Clean Energy , and Roaring 40s, which is jointly owned by Hydro Tasmania and Hong Kong-listed CLP Holdings.
Epuron, a unit of Germany's solar company Conergy is another long-term and large wind asset owner.

* AGL Energy and Orgin Energy should also benefit. As Australia's largest power retailers, their interest in developing renewable energy, among others, is to offset their liabilities to purchase renewable energy certificates or RECs. The companies own among the country's largest development pipelines for wind farms.
* The solar segment has solar cell technology firms Silex Systems and Dyesol. Other solar technology companies include CBD Energy and Solco.

ASX ANNOUNCEMENT 6 July 2010

PROFIT GUIDANCE

Solco on track for record profit of $3.15 million
Solco Limited (ASX: SOO) is pleased to provide profit guidance for the 2010 financial year, with the
Company expecting to report a profit before tax of $3.15 million for the 12 months to 30 June 2010.
The result, which is subject to finalisation and audit, would represent a 76% increase on the previous
financial year.
Group turnover for the year is expected to be $34.5 million, a 24% increase on the previous corresponding
period.
Solco’s stronger trading performance in FY10 occurred on the back on increased demand for the company’s
solar energy products, which it wholesales and distributes nationally.
The result also demonstrates Solco’s ability to maintain a robust growth path while preserving its strong
operating margins.
It also represents the second consecutive year of profit growth since the finalisation of the restructure of
Solco’s board and senior management team in 2008.
Solco has achieved the FY2010 earnings growth despite facing significant challenges during the year,
including downward pressure on product prices, exchange rate fluctuations and stock shortages.
Solco’s stock management, tight control over overheads and foreign exchange risk management minimised
the effect on profit margins.

Outlook for FY2011
The solar renewable market in Australian has grown markedly in the past 3 years, supported by
government incentives, rapidly falling product prices, rising energy costs, and community awareness. Solco
expects this situation to continue in FY2011. However, until grid parity is reached, which puts solar on an
equal cost footing to conventional energy, unforeseen changes in government policies may have a
dampening effect on the market.
David Richardson, Chairman said “I’m extremely pleased with Solco’s continued ability to deliver profitable
growth within its core business. This places the team at Solco in a solid position to drive our next stage of
strategic expansion within the expanding renewable energy market.”

Astronergy Enters Into Exclusive Agreement With Solco Ltd.

HANGZHOU, China, Aug. 2 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Leading Chinese solar company, Astronergy (also known as Chint Solar), has today announced an exclusive agreement with Solco Ltd., headquartered in Perth, Western Australia. Solco will be the exclusive distributor of Astronergy solar modules for Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Nauru, and other Oceania nations, and Astronergy will be the premier Chinese module supplier to the Australian company.

Solco will distribute Astronergy's entire line of solar products, including monocrystalline solar PV, polycrystalline solar PV, and high- efficiency thin film PV. The high quality modules will be used across the complete range of solar applications including PV systems for residences, government and schools as well as larger scale projects.

Increased demand in the Australian Pacific market and the addition of more sales channels in the region have already made their impact on the companies' joint effort. It is expected that this year's shipment volume will double the original amount outlined in the contract.

Founded in 1989 and listed on the Australian Stock Exchange with offices and distribution centers across Australia, Solco is a well established and rapidly expanding solar systems design, supply and installation service company.

"With our quality panels reaching more customers in the Oceania Region through the trusted solar systems provider Solco, we will have greater access to the developing Oceania market," said Astronergy CEO Dr. Liyou Yang. "This is a win-win situation for both companies."

"We expect that Solco will be able to achieve even greater successes in local markets. Astronergy will work hard to foster long-term cooperation with Solco," noted Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, Mr. Alan Yuan.

Solco's Chief Executive Officer, Mark Norman, believes the partnership with Astronergy will be the cornerstone in securing a reliable supply of quality solar panels for its customers throughout Oceania.

"This agreement with Astronergy will allow us unique access to a growing supply of products from China which will undoubtedly enhance our operations and future development opportunities. We firmly believe this is the opening phase of our strong and expanding relationship with Astronergy and its global parent, the Chint Group."

"Astronergy products consistently achieve an excellent level of quality and performance," said Solco CEO Mark Norman "and we are delighted to announce this Agreement."
