PacNet Offers Secured Internet Access Solution to Small & Medium Businesses in Thailand
Wednesday January 19, 5:00 am ET

SINGAPORE, Jan. 19 /Xinhua-PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Pacific Internet or PacNet (Nasdaq: PCNTF - News), the largest telco-independent Internet Communications Service Provider by geographic reach in the Asia Pacific region, today announced a partnership with Astaro, an award-winning provider of Open-Source based security software, to introduce a secured Internet access solution to small-and-medium sized businesses (SMBs) in Thailand.
Under the agreement, PacNet will offer its high-speed Internet access services with Astaro's integrated network security solution comprising of firewall, Intrusion Protection System (IPS), virus and spam protections, URL content filtering and Virtual Private Network (VPN) gateway. SMBs have the option to customize the solution by choosing the type of security features required. PacNet will fully manage the service for the customers on a monthly subscription basis.

''While anti-virus and firewall products are gradually becoming essential IT investments for companies, we noticed that small-and-medium businesses are still hampered from achieving higher level of security protection. This is primarily due to huge costs associated with hardware, software and IT human resources for security upgrades and maintenance. What we are offering to the SMBs is the market's first all-in-one secured access solution, enabling them to customize their own security protection and enjoy advanced security applications cost effectively,'' said Prithayuth Nivasabutr, Managing Director of Pacific Internet Thailand.

Don Nikanti, Managing Director of Astaro (Thailand) Co., Ltd. said, ''We believe that this partnership with PacNet will help us extend our network security solution to business users in Thailand. Our product provides ease of administration, flexibility and affordability to both partners and customers who require a comprehensive security solution to help mitigate threats from the Internet, and enforce the organization's security policy.''

With the partnership, PacNet and Astaro are now offering three security solutions to meet the demands of various businesses:

-- Centralized security solutions - Designed for SMBs who have limited
budget and resources but need access to security tools at affordable
prices.  The service enables firewall, anti-virus, anti-spam, intrusion
protection, and URL content filtering for security management.

-- Dedicated security solutions -- Designed for organizations that require
fine-grained management of their security policy and comprehensive
network security management.  This solution will provide a dedicated
Astaro security appliance at the organizations' gateway for complete
control of the network and Internet resources.

-- Internet Data Center security solutions - Provides the necessary
security tools such as firewall, IPS, anti-spam and anti-virus to
protect inbound connections to customers' servers hosted within
      PacNet's data center.
