.......Right now this particular share is past my ‘buy-in’ limit. But the volatile nature of this opportunity means you may have a chance to get in at any point before the mine re-opens. In fact, I believe the returns on this could be so big I shall be re-evaluating the ‘buy-in’ limit very soon.

Der sollte bei dem zu erwartenden Newsflow der nächsten Monate nicht mehr allzulange auf sich warten lassen ;-)  

Also ... wenn ich das richtig sehe und wir mal den einen oder anderen der ESBC in die Liste der 20 Major Shareholders einreihen würden, wären die letzten drei oder vier der aktuellen Liste draußen.

Außerdem: Wenn weder einer der 20 (95,5 % aller Aktien) noch einer der ESBC (fast 5 % aller Aktien) Stücke verkaufen würde, käme fürs Erste kaum noch ein Handel zustande - jedenfalls nicht auf diesem Niveau ...  

Du vergisst dass sich in den 5% der ESBC noch eine grössere Menge ADRs befinden,von welchen die Aktien wieder den Top 20 zugezählt werden müssen.Mit steigendem US Interesse und einher gehendem Anstieg der ADRs auf pari sollte es zu verstärkten ESBC Tauschaktionen kommen.

In die TOP 20 Shareholderliste werden übrigens nur Positionen aufgenommen,welche an Computershare Registry Services Rty Ltd in AU gemeldet u. in AU gehalten werden.

Wie kommt es, dass etwas über 9 Mio Aktien und ADR's 5 % der BOC Aktien sein sollen ?
Hat jemand noch 7 Mio Aktien bzw ADR im Mitgliederverzeichis der ESBC nicht eingetragen ?

nicht 7 Mio Aktien bzw ADR sondern etwa 11 Mio fehlen auf "etwa 5 %". Habe mich auch geirrt.
Aber wenn BOC Panguna öffnet, dann sind solche Rechenspiele unnötig.
Ich träume schon von den Dividenden, die meinem Einstiegskurs nahekommen.  

obschon die Wiedereröffnung letzten Monat wegen angeblicher Terminschwierigkeiten verschoben wurde ist eine Maschine mit den Ueberresten Kabuis am Samstag dort gelandet.

Effektiv rührte die Verschiebung jedoch daher dass die Landeigner nicht mit der Landung eines PNG Flugzeugs einverstanden waren,was hier vornehm mit "Air Niugini and PNG Airlines could not do it" umschrieben wird ;-)))))))))))))))

Kabuis Begräbnis soll dann morgen stattfinden.

Solomon Islands airplane brings Kabui home to rest

THE Solomon Islands on Saturday provided official air transport for the body of the late Joseph Kabui, president of the Autonomous Region of Bougainville, to his resting place on mainland Bougainville. The SOLAir Twin Otter also brought to Bougainville 10 government officials from Honiara to attend the funeral and a planeload of pigs, taro, yams, betelnut and mustard and shell money to present to the grieving family.
Head of delegation and Solomon Islands minister for commerce, industries and employment Francis Billy Hilly said the trip from Western province (in the Solomons) to Buka was approved by PNG and the autonomous government authorities.
The Solomon Islands delegation on Friday travelled to Port Moresby and were taken on a tour of the National Parliament building and grounds. They left for Honiara yesterday. The PNG Government chartered the Solomon Airlines Twin Otter to take Mr Kabui’s body to Aropa “at the last minute because Air Niugini and PNG Airlines could not do it”, Billy Hilly told The National.

Lawrence ist für eine Woche in Panguna.Unter den Landeignern wird z.Zt der Vorschlag diskutiert, PNG,AGB,BOC,MRA,ESBC und Landowners zu einem Rundtischgespräch  zusammenzubringen.

Die Frage ist, ob es opportun ist diesen Vorstoss jetzt zu starten oder ob es besser wäre damit zu warten bis ein neuer Präsident gewählt ist.

Eine offizielle Einladung der Landeigner an die ESBC an einer solchen hochkarätigen Runde teilzunehmen bezeugt wohl das Vertrauen der PLA in die ESBC. ;-)))))

...Rio Tinto ist mit seiner Pipeline an Projekten allen anderen um Jahre voraus und derjenige dem die Übernahme gelingt braucht sich um die Zukunft keine Gedanken zu machen. Rio liegt mit seinem aktuellen Preis unter der Übernahmeofferte von BHP und sollte entsprechend gekauft werden.

...zumal wenn man bedenkt dass der RIO Anteil an BCL z.Zt mit knappen 275 Mio AUD bewertet ist.;-))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Bekennen sich erstmal alle Parteien gemeinsam zur Wiedereröffnung,so sollte sich die Diskussion danach auf die Reserven u. Resourcen konzentrieren.

Bougainville Parliament at odds over resources deal

With its wealth of precious metals underground, Bougainville is a treasure island and its late president Joseph Kabui had grand plans for the autonomous region.

"I'd like to see Bougainville a Kuwait of the Pacific. That's my dream," he said.

"Because we've got so much business research in Bougainville... that is my dream."

This was the last interview President Kabui gave before he died of a heart attack at the age of 54 on June 7.

He was in charge of a tiny Pacific island that had been crippled by a civil war in the 1980s and 1990s, but which now faces uncertainty over a mineral resources deal with an Australia businessman.

The war was sparked by landowners after a bigger share of profits from the huge Australian owned Panguna copper mine.

Two years out from the next election, President Kabui was under pressure to kick-start the struggling economy according to Bougainville legal adviser Tony Regan.

"He wanted to move Bougainville into a situation where its economy would develop much faster," he said.

"So that was what was driving, to a large extent I think, the push on mining. And that's of course then taken them into very controversial issues."

Parliamentary disquiet
Just days out from his death, President Kabui was about to face a motion of no confidence in the Bougainville Parliament.

He had signed a deal that effectively gave 70 per cent of the island's resources to a foreign company called Invincible.

The deal was not discussed in Parliament before a surprise announcement six weeks ago.

Many say the deal is illegal, including Bougainville's regional member Fidelis Semoso.

"We have the Minister of Resources to transform Bougainville into something that even in the - me for example - as a young leader, cannot imagine," he said.
"But we will not realise the dream if we continue to undertake or conduct our business outside from what is internationally and nationally accepted model conduct of government. Good governance, for example, transparency."

President Kabui will be buried at his wife's village, near the once mighty Panguna copper mine in the South of the island this week.

There are currently no plans in place to elect a successor, but what is guaranteed is a fiery debate between those for and against the President's deal with Invincible Resources when parliament resumes.

Bougainville constitution change mooted to choose Kabui successor

MPs in the autonomous Papua New Guinea province of Bougainville could be called on to change the constitution to enable one of their number to be selected as President, following the death ten days ago of Joseph Kabui.
While ceremonies are continuing around the province to mark Mr Kabui’s passing, the Executive Council is preparing to meet to consider by what means his successor should be chosen.
The acting President, John Tabinaman, says a by-election is the most likely option and he says there are a number of prospective candidates.
But he says a constitutional change, which would allow the President to be chosen from the sitting members, is also possible.
“That’s an issue that will have to be discussed at the Executive Council for the members to consider, and we can either allow for a by-election to take its natural course, or to cause an amendment in the constitution so that a President could be elected from within the House of current sitting members.”

Obwohl eine Verfassungsänderung gegenüber einem möglichen gewählten Dreamteam mit Präsident/Vize Akoitai/Hannett nur als 2te Wahl gelten kann,so hat die direkte Wahl eines Präsidenten durch das ABG natürlich auch unbestreitbare Vorteile.

Eine Neuwahl hätte wohl minimum 6-8 Wochen beansprucht und während dieser Zeit ein Machtvakum hinterlassen.(mit durchaus immer möglichen  Unruhen)

Das für Ende Juni geplante Meeting zwischen PNG/ABG zur Finalisierung der Uebertragung der Miningpower könnte also durchaus wie geplant stattfinden.

Durch die von Kabui angetroffenen Wiederstände,auch im Innern des ABG gegen den so selbstherrlich abgeschlossenen Invincible Deal, besteht jetzt die reelle Chance dass ein Invincible kritischer Präsident gewählt wird und den Deal wieder cancelt,was auch die betroffenen Landeigner besänftigen dürfte.

Mit dem Dahinscheiden Kabuis dürften auch einige ABG Mitglieder ihre Pro Invincible Position überdenken.

Alles in allem eine doch recht erfreuliche Entwicklung die sich auch so fortsetzen sollte ;-)))))))))))

Die chinesische Industrieproduktion konnte im Mai verglichen mit dem gleichen Zeitraum des Vorjahres um 16% ausgeweitet werden. China ist der weltgrösste Kupferkonsument. Kupfer in Shanghai mit plus 1,3% auf 8.944 USD. An der LME wird Kupfer bei 8.090 USD gehandelt. China importierte im Mai 110.966 Tonnen Kupfer, nach 133.368 Tonnen im April.

No opening for airport

AROPA airport, Bougainville’s former link to the world, may not be opened for an indefinite period because of insurance and landowner issues surrounding it.
The airport that used to service and link Bougainville with the rest of Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Australia, was about to be officially opened and handed over by the Civil Aviation Authority last month.
However, plans changed because of major problems.
CAA management would not elaborate on the issues affecting the operation of that airport, but the Post-Courier has been reliably told from Central Bougainville that landowners did not want any PNG airline planes operating that route because of the many lives lost during the Bougainville crisis.
Also they still wanted outstanding issues sorted out between the National Government, the Bougainville leaders and the landowners of that area.
Over the weekend, the Post-Courier also had the opportunity to separately speak to executives of two airline companies that had shown interest in running the Aropa-Buka-Port Moresby route.
They said their expression of interest in that route would have been on a very risky note because there was no insurance cover for their aircraft and for passengers travelling within that area.
“We have insurance but the problem that we are facing is that insurance companies are not willing to co-operate or negotiate with us on this matter and that is why I say if we were to continue with that route we would be taking the biggest risk of all,” one of the airline operators said.
“We can do the runs but then again at the end of the day the people of that area or the landowners have the last say or the last call. We can’t just go into that place and start carrying out business without proper arrangements being in place. As we know that area is still heavily guarded by landowners and most probably there are guns also involved as well so we can do business, even without insurance cover there, but we can’t risk our lives and people’s lives under the barrel of a gun as you and I know it is still floating there, especially that area,” another airline operator said.
CAA recently said the strips were done up, maintenance of the runway had been carried out and the airport was ready for use.
However, it said there were issues still to be addressed in order for the region to see airline operators operating on a 100 per cent scale.
CAA said the Bougainville leaders still needed to do a lot of work to sort things out before the airport could be used.

Meiner Meinung nach aber sollte man wohl doch warten, bis alles wieder -wie letztendlich auch immer- in geordneten Bahnen läuft, auch wenn es ein paar Tage länger dauert.
Allerdings, wenn die Herrschaften da unten es auf die schnelle wollen, sollte man sich dagegen auch nicht sperren.

Wie du in dem PC Artikel aus # 1318 ersehen kannst geht ohne die Zustimmung der Landeigner auf Boug rein Garnichts.

Das haben die meisten (besonders in AU) noch überhaupt nicht richtig mitgekreigt,ansonsten hätte das Statement der Landowners "We want BCL back" schon damals ein Kursfeuerwerk ausgelöst.

...schreibt Anil.....png courts could cancel the invincible deal. my past experience of png is that such deals do not stand the test of time. their backers do not last and the government of the day reneges on the deal.

Man sollte nicht vergessen dass die Miningpower immer noch bei PNG ist,alle vor der definitiven Uebertragung der Rechte geschlossenen Verträge dürften also illegal sein.

...die Gefahr besteht natürlich,ist aber m.M. nach sehr gering,da die Mehrheit des ABG mit 29/13 (Hochrechnung)eine Abstimmung gegen den Deal,bzw.zur Absetzung Kabuis vorbereitet hatte.Eventuell besteht jetzt eine sehr gute Chance auch noch einige der verbliebenen Kabui Getreuen (so es denn noch welche gibt)wieder durch Frauen zu ersetzen.(wie in der constitution vorgesehen)

Lawrence versucht im Moment das "Landowners Proposal" in der nächsten ABG Sitzung auf die Tagesordnung zu bringen und wenn möglich sofort darüber abstimmen zu lassen ;-))))))  

Sieht so aus als of die Invincible mit ihrem Deal nicht durchkommen.Um die Wirtschaft anzukurbeln bleibt dann nur noch BCL: :-))))))))))))

Bougainville mineral resources deal in doubt: report

A report has cast doubt on the future of Bougainville's lucrative mineral resources.

The ABC's Foreign Correspondent report said the late President Joseph Kabui, who died of a suspected heart attack on June 7, was to face a no-confidence vote in Bougainville parliament over a secret and controversial deal with Australian businessman, Lindsay Semple.

His administration was facing criticism over its decision to grant Invincible Resources, a Canadian firm headed by Mr Semple, 70 per cent access rights to the island province's vast mineral resources, as well as fishing and forestry rights.

The deal sparked widespread concern among Bougainville landowners, politicians and citizens.

Invincible Resources reportedly paid $8 million to the Bougainville Government, and Mr Kabui is also believed to have accessed about $200,000 to pay for a heart bypass operation in Cairns and to repatriate his brother from overseas.

According to the report, withdrawals totalling more than a million dollars were also made by unnamed individuals.

The island's massive Panguna copper mine has not operated since 15 May 1989, according to Bougainville Copper Limited's (BCL) website.

BCL is owned 53.58 per cent by Rio Tinto Limited, the Papua New Guinea Government owns 19.06 per cent, and public shareholders hold the remaining 27.36 per cent.

"We expect the Bougainville Copper Agreement re-negotiations will be revived and make significant progress," BCL said.

"During the year more work will be undertaken on preparing for the possible lifting of the moratorium on new exploration and mining," it said.

Naja, freuen sich andere, die so weit unter AU die Teile wegschnappen können.

Selection of new Bougainville President to take time

As mourning for Bougainville's president Joseph Kabui is nearing completion the province's leaders are now turning their attention to a possible successor to Mr Kabui. The Bougainville Executive Council will meet next week where the subject is likely to be discussed. The process is expected to be lengthy and could require changes in the constitution.  

Hat denn noch jemand Interesse und die Möglichkeit relativ kurzfristig zur Einladung der Landowner nach POM zu fliegen? -roundtable-discussion zwischen Landowner, PNG, ABG, BOC und ESBC-
Es sind inzwischen Flüge über Singapure-POM direkt verfügbar.
Die Reisekosten sind nach Veröffentlichung  sicher locker drin, dann mit einem Anstieg von 0,50€ :-)))))
