NCR putting Blockbuster kiosks at Racetrac stores
NCR Corp. the company behind Blockbuster Inc.'s self-service DVD kiosks, is installing machines at more than 300 RaceTrac convenience stores.
NCR said Thursday that almost 200 Blockbuster Express kiosks are already in place, with the remainder set to be installed by June.
Shoppers can rent movies from the kiosks 24 hours a day by using a credit or debit card. Rentals start at $1 and can be returned to any Blockbuster Express kiosk.
RaceTrac stores are located in five states in the Southeast.
Last month NCR reported that its fourth-quarter net income and revenue climbed. Aside from the Blockbuster kiosks, the Duluth, Ga. company makes self-service stations for the retail, financial services, travel, health care, hospitality, entertainment and gaming industries. It plans to install ATMs at hundreds of Chase locations throughout 2011. It also sells technology that allows customers in retail locations to check out without the assistance of a cashier.
Blockbuster is operating under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
