Berkshire "berappeln" sich

So far in 2016, Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway is doing something very familiar once again: beating the market.
Year to date, shares of Berkshire Hathaway (BRK-A) — which trade in both astronomic Class A and more standard-priced Class B flavors — are up some 13.5 percent, while the broad S&P 500 (^GSPC) has risen about 6.8 percent.
This outperformance comes after an unusually dour year for Berkshire in 2015, which saw the company's value slide by 12 percent even as the S&P remained essentially flat.

Was denkt ihr darüber?
Financial Services: Berkshire Is Bigger Than Buffett

We think two big concerns--a belief that Berkshire Hathaway's size will prevent it from growing at a decent clip in the future and that the company's shares will get pummeled once Buffett no longer runs the show--have kept some investors on the sidelines. Although we believe that the wide-moat firm is unlikely to consistently grow its book value per share at a double-digit rate, something that happened nine times during 2001-15 and 40 times during 1965-2015, we think that Berkshire can grow its book value per share at a high-single- to double-digit rate going forward, much as we've seen since the start of the new millennium. This type of growth should leave returns solidly and consistently above

These aforementioned cycles of temporary brilliance and dumbness are not just common to us mere mortals. Even Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway goes through them. As just one example, in 1999, when the stock market went up 21% Berkshire Hathawaystock declined 19%. In 1999 the financial press was writing obituaries for Buffett’s investment prowess."
