ARISE arranges for 14 MW of wafers from Sino-American

2007-12-12 10:21 ET - News Release

Mr. Ian MacLellan reports

ARISE TECHNOLOGIES CORPORATION ANNOUNCES SIGNING OF SILICON WAFER SUPPLY AGREEMENT

ARISE Technologies Corp.'s wholly owned subsidiary ARISE Technologies Deutschland GmbH has entered into a silicon wafer supply agreement with Sino-American Silicon Products Inc. (SAS) of Taiwan.

Under the terms of the agreement, SAS will supply silicon wafers to ARISE Germany's 80-megawatt (MW) photovoltaic (PV) cell production facility in Bischofswerda, Germany, commencing Jan. 1, 2008, through to Dec. 31, 2010. The three-year agreement consists of approximately 14 MW of wafers. This is the first of what the company expects will be a series of short-term supply agreements.

Commenting on the agreement, Ian MacLellan, ARISE president and chief executive officer, remarked, "We look forward to our partnership with SAS, and are particularly pleased with this agreement which strengthens our wafer supply position in the short term."

ARISE previously announced it had signed a 200 MW silicon wafer supply agreement with Deutsche Solar AG of Germany.

About SAS

Sino-American Silicon Products Inc. specializes in the manufacture of small and medium diameter silicon wafers. Core products include: silicon-based materials for solar cells, power devices, energy-related products, consumable ICs and telecommunication devices. SAS is constantly developing new silicon-based processes and materials to serve global customer needs.
